Speaking on being a contractor, specifically, Meta is a great place for (a) working in a fast-paced environment with wicked bright, motivated, and generally collaborative colleagues, and (b) for receiving above-market compensation.

Contracting can become a revolving door where one contract leads to another. Unless you have a clear path to onboard as a Full-Time Employee (FTE), you will receive a little less buy-in from management because you simply won't be there as long as FTEs (under normal, non-layoff circumstances). That said, in my experience, and compared to what I've heard from contractors at other tech companies, you still are given a lot of autonomy, independent responsibility, and fair attribution as a contractor at Meta.
