Contrasting times were sent on when we start on our first day and when I say it was impossible to get through to anyone with questions prior to my first day, I really mean IMPOSSIBLE. The mic on the laptop they sent me didn't work a lot of the time and when I was told that there was an onboarding issue with my I-9 stuff, I desperately had to email, slack, teams, text and call anyone to get an answer on what to do next. Ended up being blocked out of my work email before I could even talk to anyone and could not get in touch with anyone. Assumed I was let go with no explanation on my third day. Needless to say, the communication and organization was absolutely atrocious. There was a full day where I was just home not having a clue if I had been let go or what the heck was happening. Care.com recently went under a restructure to “level out” the playing field and making sure salaries are at market value as one of their strategic plans. It’s like an office setting because your on video all day with all the other reps. You meet great teammates that become your friends (although short lived; the coworkers you meet are great). Micromanagement at its finest (new leads are accounts that have been attempted hundreds of times). There’s no reviews or testimonials. You need to be okay with scheming schools and daycare centers because this is a well known scam, ran by the same people as home advisors. I ONLY liked my manager… don’t even think they work there anymore for many reasons… you have to be on camera on zoom with your microphone on from when you clock in to when you clock out. if you stop making calls for even 10 mins they need to know a reason why. ALL YOU DO IS MAKE CALLS. That is literally all you are doing and it is extremely draining especially when at times you are calling the same people multiple times a week. If you don’t make a sale a week they fire you. They have fired SO many people it is actually insane. I even asked if I could just move within the company and they didn’t even give me an answer and just let me go. everyone in my training class ended up getting let go. THEY. DO. NOT. Smart, hardworking, and genuine teammates I wish I could have worked with at another company. Low pay: Care.com's pay is not in line with the market. No compensation changes: No raises, promotions, or even cost of living adjustments in the 2 years I was there. This was especially painful with inflation. Long hours: Very little work/life balance from the top down. New leadership: Basically an entirely new leadership team has taken over which may be a pro in the long run, but they appear to be just bringing in their friends to fill and replace roles with or without the proper experience needed. Layoffs: The B2B division has experienced some layoffs due to not hitting sales targets. Market: The economy is deeply and negatively impacting child care benefit sales - I would think hard before accepting a position with this company right now.
