After the original owners sold Design Public Group to HNI in 2021, the company has since been in a complete downward spiral. Leadership that was put in place is totally out of their depth, void of any original ideas, is wildly unsophisticated and lacks the backbone and integrity to lead any company. Changes that Leadership has implemented in an attempt to drive growth are based on embarrassingly outdated business strategies and stale morale building techniques. One executive in particular is a conniving, unscrupulous and self-serving fraud. Leadership has managed to destroy key vendor relationships, and they have tarnished the reputation of Design Public Group out in the marketplace. They consistently point the blame for the company’s decline on current and former employees (including the previous owners) in an attempt to deflect the culpability from themselves and their selfish, naive and impulsive decision making. Leadership has conveniently created a false narrative that anyone who is unhappy or exits the organization 'can't keep up' or is not willing to work hard. The reality is that those employees are disgusted with continuously being lied to, stabbed in the back and being forced to work in this newly created toxic work environment. Leadership is singularly focused on their own personal gain and self preservation and could care less about the company and it’s employees. Leadership has not divulged that Design Public Group does not have a Los Angeles / Culver City showroom, which is in violation of many partnership agreements. The company is also violating labor and nepotism laws in multiple states. HR complaints are promised to be ‘investigated’ but go nowhere. The company is a sinking ship.
