-Perpetually short staffed yet always trying to cut hours further. (Yay, mess up my paycheck to short me one week then slash a third of my usual hours from my schedule the next week, bet someone got a bonus for reducing labor costs.)
-Sometimes we have only 1 employee to cover 3-4 jobs. And it's not entirely lack of hiring. Unlike the 4 (maybe more? Some I never even met before they left) new hires that have come and run screaming in the last 3 months I'm still here.
-Managers constantly contradicting each other on what they want done, ripping us apart for not getting back-end stuff done when it's like WTF? Am I supposed to tell the customers at the counter sorry, can't help you, the manager said new salads and sandwiches are a priority and wants them done now? Maybe I should. Let's see how long before some Karen is screaming at them instead of at me about how long it's taking because I'm one person with a line of 4-5 customers.

Get your act together, get some managers that know how to respect employees and work as a team instead of running over each other with contradicting instructions. And stop creating that environment by making them essentially compete with each other on conflicting goals. Assistant A is being judged on their ability to slash every possible labor hour they can. Assistant B is being judged on keeping supply and other costs down so we're running out of basics and working on half broken equipment. Assistant C - the one most likely to be demoted or cut loose - is the poor sap tasked with having their assigned area looking and good and running smooth. When A & B don't give them anything to work with and A, B and store manager keep stepping in and contradicting their directions because each is turning their particular pet peeve into a priority.

If you can work there long enough to journeyman, the pay and benefits are decent, but not a livable wage.

The management are required to staff each department with the bare minimum. But if someone calls out, the burden for the employees grows. And lines will develop at the front, which will trigger the management to panic.
