Leeds is among the top ten universities for research power in the UK. Our academic breadth, commitment to quality and determination to make a genuine impact on the world around us enables us to achieve extraordinary results in:
• Creating knowledge through research and innovation.
• Disseminating it through excellent student education.
• Applying it to make a difference to society, culture and the economy.
We have over 34,000 students, over 7,000 members of staff and a global network of more than 240,000 alumni.
Integrating research and learning and teaching is at the heart of our strategy. Our courses are taught by staff who are engaged in world-class research and cutting-edge professional practice.
We have strong ties with industry, and work with organisations of all sizes. Our outstanding entrepreneurial record of commercialising our research has seen us launch more spin-out companies on the AIM stock market than any other UK university.

The Lifelong Learning Centre is about creating opportunities so that people of any age are not bound for their lifetimes by the decisions and experiences of their past. It means finding different ways of opening up the University, its knowledge and learning opportunities to wider audiences. The Lifelong Learning Centre (LLC) promotes programmes, pathways and support for adult, part time and foundation level students especially, although not exclusively, those from disadvantaged and under-represented groups.
We operate both as a multi-disciplinary School running undergraduate programmes that support recruitment and progression and as a Service with a range of functions to meet the needs of our various cohorts on a ‘one-stop-shop’ basis. Our students and service users are varied in terms of age, background and mode of study, but all are ‘non-standard’ in some way. Some study on LLC programmes; others are parented in faculties. In addition, much of our provision is targeted specifically at the local community, supporting both recruitment and public engagement.
We are committed to providing a first-class student experience delivering advice, guidance and support in a confidential and friendly environment. From initial enquiry, through an introduction to university life and during their whole academic career, prospective and current students have plenty of formal and informal opportunities to gain information, advice and guidance from our experienced and sympathetic staff.
Here you can study a range of part-time, foundation level and full-time courses:
• Arabic and Islamic Studies
• Arts and Humanities with Foundation Year
• Business Management
• Business Studies with Foundation Year
• Child and Family Studies
• Contemporary and Professional Studies
• Earth and Environmental Sciences with Foundation Year
• Interdisciplinary Science with Foundation Year
• Interdisciplinary Studies (Formerly PHE)
• Learning and Teaching
• Studies in Science
