Very Poor. No work/Life balance
|
Returned to Next after a gap after a happy time there only left due to Covid contract reductions.
Returned and looking forward to starting back in a different store. Things started well but spiralled quickly, before returning, I stated about 2nd Job and other activities, and all was fine, and promises were made. How wrong was I no respect lack of empathy, broken promises and I was the one they made look bad.
Bad Management, Bad Culture. Extremely Disappointed. Decided to leave.

I only worked here for a few weeks as the job just isnât for everyone. The hours are long and there is almost no work life balance as itâs either working until late or starting very early in the morning. It can be very tiring and sometimes the targets can be hard to reach, for example the 85 percent productivity. I asked a manager for help and had to go back to them a few times before I got help for what I was asking and told a manager about a problem with the boxes getting stuck on the conveyor belt and they didnât help and only helped when someone else went and told them, by which point it had gotten worse. The pay is only 9.70 an hour at the base rate which I feel could be more for what they expect of you, but you can get a bonus on top of that which makes it slightly better, however the bonus sheet you have to fill in to gain the bonus can be quite a pain to do as you have to fill it in anytime you stop work long for whatever reason. The job is an alright job If warehouse work is for you and you can keep up with their expectations. There was also, in my opinion, not enough training as I only had training for one week before I was left to do it on my own with no support, but the team leaders were helpful when I was on training.

Arguably a lack of training but staff are helpful.
Flexibility in shifts, and managers are helpful with this.

Never paid right since I started. Managers are well a joke and bossy and talk to you like something they stepped on and would alway let you know if you arenât doing something satisfactory or the way the wanted it done even though you had no training and if they tell you how they want it done it still not right. Best thing I done was leave.
They also enjoy hiring lazy people and for you to take the fall for them or there work load.

Alot learning, poor management
|
You learn alot and work is not too hard too. Some people are nice and few, including Manager and assistant manager are very horrible sometimes. They make you feel like you can't talk to them at all. Pay is minimum and so is timing. Less chances of progress.

Nice people to work with, most of them are very helpful, good atmosphere, the job itself is easy but fast-paced, people are there with different backround.
If you are looking for a job even for a short time it is worth to apply.

Fast-paced, sometimes stressful but enjoyable
|
Though I would not say working at Next has been necessarily fun, I have made amazing friends, I feel more confident in myself and it has taught me a lot. For a first job, working at Next has been brilliant. It can often be very demotivating seeing how much needs to be done, but working with such a supportive team has made my time at Next really good, and I'll never forget the many memories that I have made whilst working here.
