Depending on your team, great place to be. Some teams can be super frustrating and have poor leadership that has been there too long. Others have really solid leaders and lots of high performers.
Best to be close to product verticals that are growing and generating revenue -- lots of the new bets get cut each year

After many years at my previous employer, Dropbox has been nothing short of exceptional since joining. The culture is the best I've experienced where not only the work, but also the people are so appreciated and respected. The flexibility of virtual first provides an environment that is non traditional in a world where hovering and micro managing is so ample. Dropbox is for self motivated people that appreciate space to do their best work!

Not a con, however if you are someone who thrives and yearns for extremely high pace and stress and 12+ hr days, then Dropbox might not be for you. Dropbox values balance, and while Dropbox continues to innovate and push the boundaries into new spaces beyond cloud, it is not a company that is in the spotlight like other larger tech platforms.

The work is straightforward and fulfilling.
|
Contractors are given a rolling 6-month review contract. However at 23 months, if you fail to impress management socially, they will let you go. This is because by Irish law at the time of my employment, is that after 24 months, you have the same rights as a full-time employee. This was the company knowingly not renewing contractors to stop them from legally having to give them the same benefits. The same laws that are to protect contractors from being overlooked and their work abused.
Contractors are seen as second-class by non-contractors. Where directly hired employees will look down upon contractors who have the same job as them.
The review process to become full-time is a popularity contest, and Management will always give the same answer that contractors are not "Enthusiastic" enough for a position. Where there are no other issues, working in the same position with no differences except you get to stay past the 23 month mark.

Keep the contractors that do their job well. Instead of training new people every year to replace people, you let go. As training and recruitment costs more than just giving contractors a very minute pay increase.

Dropbox is in a very saturated market with fierce competition and it has struggled to differentiate itself or launch new products that take off like the original product. There is a revolving door of leaders and they struggle to set a vision and startegy and stick to it long enough to see something through. This can be very frustrating for employees that work hard towards something only to see that product scrapped a few months later and then rinse and repeat.
