DISH is looking for a Data Scientist who will work closely with teams like product, engineering, marketing, operations, and help solving some of their problems from a data perspective. Primary Responsibilities: Developing effective ways to do various analyses like customer segmentation, user modeling, churn analysis and prediction, LTV prediction, and otherwise process large volumes of customer and device data with the intention of gaining actionable insights and making data-driven decisions. Collaborate closely with other team members including data scientists, engineers, and quality analysts to make sure the team is progressing as a cohesive unit and producing results. Provide technical guidance to other team members when required. Help multiple audiences - engineers, product managers, executives - dig into and understand the output of the team’s analyses and models using notebooks (e.g. Rmd, Jupyter), visualization, presentations etc. Constantly look for and adopt new techniques and tools to ensure the team stays at the forefront of modern large-scale data processing and analysis techniques #DICE_KTO #LI-KT2 If you meet most of the following requirements, you are likely to be a great fit for the position: You have an academic background in applying statistics and machine learning. The typical candidate has a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or Physics or such quantitative fields or has done a program from a business school in marketing, analytics etc. with a focus on quantitative approaches. You have at least 2 years of experience working with data and data analysis. You have built predictive models and have done analyses to explain and understand the underlying process, variable relationships, causality etc. You have a wide range of statistical and machine learning tools under your belt, and deep practical insight to choose the best tools for a given problem. These include linear models for regression and classification, multi-level models, factor analysis & PCA, discriminant analysis, support vector machine, decision tree ensembles & bootstrap, neural networks, mixture models & clustering algorithms, and so on. You know how to incorporate prior domain knowledge in your models in a principled fashion. You are familiar with Bayesian modeling and inference; you also know when and when not to use them based on practical considerations. The DISH Business Analytics team’s Manager, Data Science will have an important impact on driving the division towards its budget and key results in 2021 and beyond. The Sling Billing and Payment Operations team is responsible for managing day-to-day operations for customer billing and payment-related infrastructure for the Sling Business. They are also responsible for introducing and integrating traditional, alternative, and partner payment methods. Improve the payment processing efficiency. Auditing and analyzing customer accounts to ensure billing and payment accuracy. The job functions include, but are not limited to working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Finance, Business Development, and Legal in forging and implementing new strategic payments relationships while cultivating existing partnerships. Account auditing and analysis, evaluating and improving overall customer experience, managing payment, and billing initiatives, developing efficiencies, and driving improvements to meet organizational goals. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Monitoring payment activity for different payment methods Works with payment vendors, including but not limited to various payment credit card processors, card orgs (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex), alternative payment methods (i.e. PayPal), and pre-paid card vendors to ensure payments are processed correctly Auditing customer accounts to ensure payments process correctly, posting to the customer's billing account Maintains relationships with new key 3rd party billing vendors Assists in defining and building requirements for different payment initiatives Identify potential opportunities for process improvement and report automation using various methods, i.e. databases, spreadsheets, external data sources, IT development, and execute changes to systems with little or no impact Fully understand the processes and their impact on the overall business; analyze, identify, and implement potential process and systems enhancements to create efficiencies and reduce resource allocation for routine tasks, procedures, and reports; assist in the completion of projects and using discretion to determine the methods to meet established goals Create ad-hoc reports as requested in a timely and accurate manner.
