I was so excited about the acquisition between Dex and YP. As a former YP employee, I was looking forward to being a part of a company that seemed to understand that print directories are dying, and they were doing something about it. Boy was I in for a big surprise when everything started rolling out. This company has an obvious for disdain for all things formerly YP, including the work force that they acquired. This past year our objective in the retention/cancellation department rose from 52% to 89%. How the company feels that is possible or justified is beyond my knowledge. This company has literally sucked all the joy from my life. I have never, not once since the acquisition felt secure in my position. For the past year I have been battling extreme anxiety and depression, which were never evident or present in my life before the acquisition. With these impossible objectives and unwarranted stress this company puts on their employees, it’s not a surprise that 20% of their workforce is out on stress leave at any given time. Save yourself the heartache and find a different sales position. You won’t get anywhere with DexYP/Thryv.

There are so many companies out there now that have what "we" use to have at Dex. Great environments with great results because they value their employees and treat them as equals. It's not about titles, it's about PEOPLE. It worked well for me for many years. I know how difficult being in a Leadership role is. But I also know how difficult it is being in an entry level position. Remember, with all due respect, the customers and employees that are bringing in revenues. If you are in a sales environment, find your gap to plan, sit down with your Team and get their feedback on how "we" can accomplish what needs to be accomplished. It should never be about "I NEED THIS TODAY-NOW GO MAKE IT HAPPEN!" Strategize and share ideas. And finally, you (Dex) have lost many of your top performers because of some of the things I've mentioned here. If you value ALL of your people, they will walk through fire for you. I know it worked for me. Best of luck in your future.
