Uncaring and cruel are two words that come to mind when thinking about the environment of this workplace. I struggle to think of one positive thing to say about ESB. It’s a trap and no matter how desperate you are you should not fall for it. Also when they say “generous PTO” keep in mind that the amount of time they give you is both holiday and sick days in one pool, not x amount of days for vacation and x amount of sick days. Typical day at work would beginning with sending out the teller difference report for the twelve branches. This was my first professional job, not only did I learn about the different types of reports that are prepared on a daily, weekly, and monthly level but also how to work in a professional bank environment. The hardest part of the job is dealing with the discrepancy and calling the personnels to solve the case. Elmira Savings Bank is a great place to work. The training is very hands on and helpful. A typical day at work is pretty fast-paced and your continuously learning new things. Customer service is very important to this company and they go the extra lengths everyday to ensure that their customers are happy and satisfied, which is very refreshing. Not only does this company care about their customers, but they genuinely care about their employees as well. Management is great and is always there to help you with anything you may need. The hardest part of this job is leaving it. The only reason I am leaving ESB is because I am relocating to another state. My time at ESB has been a lot shorter than I would have liked it to be but I have learned a lot in that short period of time. The most enjoyable part of this job is the people you get to work with. I genuinely enjoy getting up and going to work every day and I will miss this job when I leave but I am very grateful for the opportunities I have had here. I am also extremely grateful for all of the people I have met and had the pleasure of working with and the friends I have made. Elmira Savings Bank is a great company to work for. The number one strength, in my opinion, is work life balance. As far a stress and pressure to hit metrics- it is expected, you are rewarded for it and it is good for the bank but very low key compared to other banks I have worked for. The right activities are encouraged and honestly you should be excited to learn valuable skill sets! Overall, you are treated as a person not a number. Upper management sincerely cares about thier employees well-being. You are encouraged to be involved in the community which is absolutely amazing!! I would say ESB is a wonderful place to continue or start a career. Be advised, as with any company, you are rewarded for the effort you put into the job. Nothing is handed to you. If you are hard working, have a positive attitude, and do the right things you would enjoy your time here. The management team is very unskilled in customer service. They do not train their employees properly and all employees are self taught due to the lack of training. Senior Management is close to retiring and lack the motivation to increase the moral within the business or make changes to the day to day life to make the work load easier. Instead they add multiple things on to you thru out the day to increase your work load so that way it hopefully increases the bottom dollar. All that matters to them is if you are bringing in profit to increase the depths of their pockets.
