As a member of our hardware team you will assist in the design and development of electronic circuits, equipment, systems, and products within Garmin’s Fitness and Outdoor segments. You will work directly with other engineering disciplines and be responsible for creating, productizing, and maintaining new technologies for consumer products. Essential Functions: Design and develop innovative embedded hardware solutions for moderately complex analog, digital, or RF circuits for products, including simulations, schematics, PCB layout, and validation Estimate level of effort and evaluate new technologies as they apply to existing functions Collaborate in design reviews and technical assessments providing comments and suggestions to support current development and implementation of new technologies Work with other engineering teams to ensure robust designs and appropriate testability Design test boards and develop rigorous test plans to evaluate hardware solutions including analysis and documentation of all test results Work with the factory team to understand design impacts on manufacturability May perform as a technical leader or Project Engineer for moderately complex projects or sub projects as part of a greater project, following established procedures Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience and a cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability with application of design standards and procedures to develop moderately complex embedded analog, digital, and/or RF designs including simulations, schematics, PCB layouts, and validation Demonstrated ability with electrical engineering tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, simulation tools, schematic capture / PCB layout tools, etc.) Demonstrated knowledge of design impacts on manufacturability Garmin Canada: Eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Alberta Desirable qualifications: Previous work with embedded circuit design for consumer products Experience working on multiple simultaneous development projects Experience trouble-shooting complex problems on embedded systems Experience supporting production facilities in the manufacture of products Excitement to create and deliver hardware solutions for wearable products Company Information At Garmin Canada, we create more than just products – we inspire solutions and innovations that change and shape how we live, work and play. In this role, you will be responsible for developing superior GNSS-based positioning solutions for all consumer markets that Garmin serves. We have openings in multiple Locations (preferably Olathe, KS but also available in Boulder, CO or Cochrane, Alberta Canada).
