Evaluation by peers with inaccurate judgment and managers with poor manager skills. People pointing fingers for their poor management abilities and in some cases even false evaluations.

Relaxed and pleasant. Environment tends to be friendly and non competative.

Reading, research and meetings. Some test execution and writing or reviewing documents.

Pros: good music, short shifts, located in Times Square which is central for a lot of travel, shift meals
Cons: Health risks (CO leaks, fall risks), unreliable pay and post-shift arrival staffing cuts, unsupportive upper management.

Good compensation, not worth it.
|
Pay is great and the job looks great going in. You soon realize the lack of accountability, recognition, and cooperation is highly impactful on what you can do.
Tenured employees refuse to cross train to achieve company goals and are not held accountable. The extra work is put on those that will do it, who are then overworked and on the path to burnout that the tenured employees and management have reached. It's a culture of complacency that they think they can make up for with free food and good compensation.

Pay is very discouraging.
|
I got paid $20 an hour to analyze orbits and control hundreds of millions of dollars worth of satellites. I thought a sizable salary increase would eventually come. It didn't so I left. We worked alternating day and night shifts which were exhausting and made it impossible to take classes or do any regular scheduled activity. The managers almost always gave bad references for people who left. That forever killed my trust of managers and corporations.
