The MD is the final authority in Command & Control of the Iridium Satellite Network, as well as any support infrastructure issues that have the potential to affect Command & Control capabilities. The position requires a work schedule of alternating 12-hour shifts, days and night. Duties: The MD has two types of duties, those pertaining to the technical operations of the Iridium System, and those pertaining to managerial duties of his or her shift crew. The technical duties and responsibilities include: - Management and coordination of planned daily mission objective execution on the Iridium Satellite Network including but not limited to: - Satellite orbital maneuvers - Constellation wide software update campaigns - Engineering directed test activities - Routine Satellite State of Health activities - Management and coordination of recovery from unplanned events in Iridium Satellite Network including satellite payload Return-to-Service (RTS) and satellite bus anomaly resolution - Management and coordination of Gateway or Teleport Network (TPN) operations, test, maintenance and fault recovery activities - Management and coordination of control facility hardware and software operations, test, maintenance and fault recovery activities - Supervision and coordination of Hosted Payload Operations Center (HPOC) operations, test, maintenance and fault recovery activities - Coordination and facilitate fault escalation and recovery meetings for all areas of responsibility The managerial and administrative expectations include but are not limited to: - Manage personnel resources to maintain sufficient staffing to successfully execute all satellite command and control activities, including personnel time-off authorization - Validate and approve personnel timesheets - Mentor and develop shift personnel operational performance and career advancement through regular feedback and annual Performance Review cycles - Ensure all shift personnel are in compliance with Iridium HR policies including but not limited to timekeeping, time-off, use of computing resources, and personal conduct.
