The typical day at work totally depends on your position, department and manager. I’ve always believed in work hard play hard but ultimately your manager has you livelihood in their hands and if they simply just don’t like you it won’t matter how great your work is or how great your results are, they can get you gone. Senior leadership is totally disconnected from what’s really going on in the trenches. Microsoft touts this “Growth Mindset” but even that can be used against you…for real. The hardest part of the job is being in sync with your internal stakeholders and truly being One Microsoft. However, if the stars and moon align right, you can get promoted, get a raise, bonuses and earn a great living. However, it’s stressful always wondering if you’ll be the next to be laid off.

Microsoft will be quick to lay you off with no notice at all. They only care about the money and will make cuts anywhere. Benefits are great though, with remote working environment.
