This is a great entry job for people who want to get into the field of health and climb the corporate ladder - you can become a phlebotomist or an office manager within 1-2 years. You get a $1 pay raise every year on your hire date anniversary. Constant office "parties" and celebrations. Good people, good company ethics, healthy office environment. As long as you're not consistently late or on your phone, you cannot be fired. Company culture is all inclusive and very open. It can seem very cult-like. They'll convince you it isn't a cult but it is. This company was bought out by Amazon and began to implement the Warehouse Associate workflow. Good luck getting decent training. Office Managers and HR DO NOT CARE about "personal office grievances". If a provider is unprofessional or your staff has assaulted someone, they will not fire them. Patients are annoying. When Iora was acquired by One Medical, despite assurances otherwise, they completely deconstructed the team-based care that we were known for providing to the seniors in our care, without which we were not able to deliver the care our patients were used to and deserved. After enduring a workplace where my concerns about rude coworkers were consistently ignored by management, my stress levels escalated significantly. This culminated in me taking an FMLA leave, a decision driven by the critical state of my mental health due to the work-related stress. Sadly, it was only after I submitted my resignation that the seriousness of my situation seemed to be acknowledged. This experience highlights the urgent need for management to not only fairly distribute work but also to actively foster a respectful and supportive work culture. Addressing interpersonal issues, supporting employee well-being, and taking responsibility for creating a positive work environment are crucial steps towards improving overall morale and productivity. Since merging with Amazon, One Medical has undergone noticeable changes, shifting from a patient-centered, empathetic approach to a more numbers-driven focus. While it's understandable for a healthcare company, especially one still resolving operational issues, to pay attention to metrics, this shift has had notable implications. The emphasis on numbers over patient care has not only affected the quality of service but also the morale of the employees who joined the company with the expectation of providing empathetic, patient-focused healthcare. This, combined with the issues of excessive delegation by management, unaddressed workplace conflicts, and the impact on employee mental health, underscores the need for a recalibration. They laid off majority of our in clinic staff during the middle of our work day with a full schedule of patients. Then laid all the work load on the lab staff. They wanted us to give injections, mix medications to give patients, do Covid, flu, strep swabs and blood draws.
