It was an excellent company with great benefits, culture, management team. The company promoted an atmosphere for continued learning. Redfin corporation acquired Bay Equity and I was transferred over to that division when Redfin Mortgage was disbanded. On the positive side, as an Associate agent (AA), you get lots of opportunity to meet & help people with the biggest purchase of their lives, their homes. It’s fun & exciting to help them find out the pros & cons of a home without worrying that it will affect your pay since they are paid per home showed & not on commission. You learn a lot about your particular region & you are extremely up to date on the market as you see the largest number of homes in a month of probably any other real estate professional. You also get a lot of education just by hearing the clients talk about what they like, what they don’t etc. Now for the downside. The pay used to be very reasonable I’ve heard but when I worked there the pay had begun to creep downward & has continued to do so I have heard. When you take in the cost of gas, plus the work I’m setting up these tours etc, and then someone cancels & you lose out on that home tour pay, it really stinks. Also very difficult when buyers start to ask you why you can’t stay as their buyers agent & why you have to pass them off to someone else once they find their home. If you do this job, be sure to have a very tight hold on which areas you service. It was fun and rewarding and a great break from being a traditional real estate agent. Pay is decent, full time livable wage is possible if you’re willing to drive. Management is friendly and easy to work with. I am very very infrequently told what to do or how to do it.
