Small Bank Growing Too Quickly

When I worked there we had a great team at the branch. Management was very supportive of CSR’s and we had a great working relationship! It allowed us to become close with clients and build lasting relationships and trust.

The gap between client facing roles (ie branch level) and back office/corporate just continued to grow. There was such a focus on growing the bank, it put a lot of pressure on our management and started to put a strain on the relationship with customers.

The company is run by an accountant who doesn't care about anything but the shareholder's profit and the company's efficiency ratio. He gives himself massive bonuses multiple times a year while paying everyone else slave wages. The executive team doesn't care about the needs of the majority of the staff. There is an old boys club that makes all the decisions while leaving out the needs of everyone else.

Started as a good job, but turned incredibly toxic a month or so before I left

The work is fulfilling, good amount of PTO and benefits, hour-long lunches can be useful. If a new position opens up you will know beforehand as a current employee
|
You have to open up an account with Riverview to get a checking account. Management is extremely unprofessional and make it extremely obvious if they don't like or respect you. If you are disliked, you will be the only one getting in trouble for something everyone else does. The center is full of blatant favoritism and nepotism, management cares much more about the slackers that bring in a bunch of their high school friends as referrals than those of us who do the lion's share of the work but have no one to refer. In fact, all the higher-ups are buddy-buddy yesmen with each other so if your manager doesn't like you, none of them do.

Treat everyone equally, even those of us who don't have any family or friends working there. And please don't talk down on the employees you dislike, it can seriously hurt our mental health. I have never in my life felt more unsafe than during the last week or two I worked here.

Can learn a lot about every department in the bank.
Good people scattered throughout.

The bank has a bad habit of protecting workers with bad production, dumping more responsibilities on the more efficient workers. Squeezes people to do jobs beyond their job descriptions without an increase in pay. Doesn't really care about what workers want/need.

When employees speak, listen to them. It felt like a complete letdown to send out an employee survey and effectively do nothing. You speak out of both sides of your mouth, be open, honest and transparent about things and people will notice.
