<p>What you'll contribute:</p><p>This position is a hands-on PeopleSoft Techno-Functional
support role. The individual manages the production support function for all
modules of the corporate general ledger system, PeopleSoft Finance. The
individual is responsible for ensuring maximum system availability throughout
the month, but especially at peak times during the month-end, quarter-end, and
year-end accounting closes. The individual acts as the liaison with the
Accounting, IT and Finance teams on various projects, and is the PeopleSoft
subject matter expert on all projects. The incumbent will be part of the
corporate Financial Systems team, and is a significant customer-facing role
requiring organization and the ability to work hands-on at all levels within
Sallie Mae. The individual also must be able to understand accounting requests
and their ultimate impact on financial reporting in order to update PeopleSoft
to meet accounting needs and propose alternatives, if required. Extensive
functional and technical knowledge of PeopleSoft and a working knowledge of
accounting and financial reporting are required. A degree in Accounting is
highly desirable.</p>

This position supports Sallie Mae Bank’s asset backed funding program
by maintaining financial models, structuring transactions that meet
market and rating agency requirements and performing analysis that will
allow the bank to enhance and grow the program.

The manager will need to have a thorough understanding of financial
markets and develop an understanding of the companies’ assets and
financing vehicles. The manager should have a thorough understanding of
discounted cash flow analysis and the ability to apply financial
modeling techniques to student loan portfolios and financing
instruments.

This position will be responsible to design, develop, and maintain
financial models for cash flow analysis. This requires knowledge of the
factors that impact the timing and level of cash inflows and outflows.
Additionally, an understanding of the laws and/or regulations governing
the student loan program is critical for accurate model development.

This position requires an advanced level of programming skills (Excel,
SAS, Access, Visual Basic and SQL) and the ability to formulate valid
assumptions, accurately structure complex financial models, and
effectively interpret model results. The manager must have the ability
to solve basic programming problems that are encountered in the
development of reports and valuation tools.
