An excellent environment to develop as an actuary
|
I have worked with WTW for just over a decade and I would highly recommend it to anybody looking to develop as an actuary.
With a large and varied client base there have always been lots of opportunities for me to develop, both as a client-facing consultant and in various internal roles. I have always felt that my hard work has been appreciated and rewarded.
The workplace culture is the main reason I have stayed in the job for a long time and not looked to move. You have access to very knowledgeable industry experts, but in an environment that is collaborative and not hierarchical.
WTW has been very supportive of flexible working, and I did some working from home prior to the pandemic. You are trusted to manage your own time and work and as somebody with childcare responsibilities this flexibility has been really valuable.
No job is perfect, and as with any consulting role there can be times where you face stressful situations or tight deadlines that mean you have to work extra hours, but I place a lot of value on being part of a large and supportive team, with good role models that you can ask for support when these situations arise.
WTW is very committed to developing its people. There is an excellent training programme in place as well as mentoring schemes and a supportive management structure.

I feel proud applying and working at WTW they provide great salary and benefits however they need to improvise their tools, hire more people/promote current employees to SME,QA, and Trainer(they don't have trainers, SMEs will be your trainer) as they accept more clients so they can manage more their time and focus it to specific assigned job responsibilities for them. Also, lack of support for new hires. As they don't have a trainer or QA that can support us although they have SMEs but it will took an hour sometimes before they answer. Imagine you are doing your tasks and your AHT is running.
Will edit this in the future if there are changes.

Everyone in the team was really supportive and helpful, but the workload itself was a lot. Churning proposals and decks to generate revenue, with little expansion to the team. The people were great but the work was too much.
