The manager took me off the schedule because I called in sick during peak COVID. Never called in prior and had never gotten in trouble prior. He didn't realize since I didn't hit send a notification back to him that I still saw it. The top manager never called me by my real name and always called me after the other kid of color who looked nothing like me. Their pay is very low and their work environment is terrible! You’d think they’d be professional considering the job but it’s the very opposite, the employees are drama filled and the customers this place attracts are inappropriate and very disrespectful! I first thought I could just work through it but no, the money they pay is not worth the things I went through working here. The only good thing about this specific establishment is the sweet managers and 4 other employees. It was one of the best jobs I had. It can be stressful but what job isn’t? Made some life long friendships here. I was a manager and I left due to the management dynamic. It had changed and I didn’t enjoy being blamed for someone else’s mistakes. I had great coworkers for the most part which is definitely a huge reason why I had such a good experience. You are overworked, unpaid, the upper management does not care. They hire teenagers they can manipulate into giving horrible pay. However, the general manager would always find a way to pressure the supervisors and lower managers into becoming aggressive or even confrontational with us. It would not happen all the time, which made some punishments feel very inconsistent, coming across as just the managers having a fit of in-the-moment anger with us.
