Good benefits, bad workplace

For cleared positions coming in without one is a complete crapshoot. I was assured there was plenty of uncleared work for me to do, and found out that just wasn't true when I started. I've been talked down to and told I'm not meeting expectations because I'm not doing the work, but I'm not doing the work because I literally am not allowed to without a clearance.
Shift changes with little notice, incompetent management, some very big egos, astounding levels of bureaucracy, simple cross team tasks taking months upon months, and a host of other issues. If you're waiting on a clearance prepare to be stuck doing things you shouldn't be doing that have nothing to do with your job, and getting talked down to like it's somehow your fault the entire time.
Good benefits but I've been contacted multiple times after hours on one of my only PTO days. Coworkers seem expected to at least do some level of work when on parental leave, but I don't know how widespread it is.
Manager seems to have a very low opinion of younger employees and referred to giving them any amount of training or help with their job as 'babysitting', among other things.
Not a welcoming place or a good place to learn thanks to some bad management and incredibly arrogant employees who've been here too long.

Excellent overall experience
|
I contracted for Boeing for many months and was impressed with them from start to finish. The leadership, the thorough and continuous training, and being surrounded by a tenet of excellence was impressive. I wished I had discovered Boeing much earlier in my career because I would have stayed there for decades like so many others have done.

Overall most of the time it was very professional. Most people and workers knew their jobs.

😃 Punch in, meetings and discussion on the days assignment. Planning out the strategy and coordinate with others on the plan.
Perform set up for testing. Perform the test. Troubleshooting if required. Return test equipment and documentation.

Have worked for many defense companies and without a doubt Boeing has been the best. I know there are issues across the business at the moment, but Boeing at its core is all about engineering and will return to first principles like quality and safety.

Overall working at Boeing is a great place to make a career. The products are amongst the most complex and intriguing that you could work on.
Boeing is a massive company with operations globally making it relatively easy to find a role in your choice of location.
The team that I've spent 5 years working on has become like a second family. Everyone is always willing to take time out of their day to help you.
The benefits offered are incredible. 10% 401k match, solid cheap health, dental, and vision insurance. Boeing will pay for you to go back and work towards higher education.
There is a lot of red tape. Bureaucracy is expected at a big company but it sometimes feels like you are drowning in it. For example, spending 3 weeks debating which contract should be responsible for 60 hours of work. By the time a decision is made the work could have been done twice over.
Pay is not competitive with the tech industry. You won't make bad money, but if salary is your primary concern don't expect to be blown away.
