Rewarding work, but no support from the leadership team
Berkshire Bank is a great company to learn from and gain experience. On the job training is provided as well as opportunity to take formal courses to expand your education in the field. However, the management team does not support their staff. Retail banking is all about sales, even if it means pushing a customer into something they do not need nor want. The company uses you for whatever they need, even if it is not remotely in your job description. Instead of hiring more staff or posting positions, they wait 6 or more months to see if your team in your branch can pick up the slack so they do not have to pay another body. The bonus system is rigged so that those who make their goals and do their part will not get paid if the rest of their team does not make their goals.

Great place to work!
Berkshire Bank is a great place to work. Wonderful coworkers, supportive management, realistic goals. Benefits are good, work/life balance is reasonable, and teams have been treated very well during the pandemic.

If you enjoy climbing up the company ladder by being a brown noser this is the company for you! They pick favorites and 9/10 it’s obvious to who it is. (Usually the employee that comes in on their days off to be a lunch courier) The customers are generally great! Selling products are pushed down your throat however, and if you don’t achieve “scorecard” (the banks goals for each quarter of the year) management has a hissy fit. Also, something to keep in mind if you do decide to leave and put in your 2 weeks, your insurance is terminated on your last day. You can pay $700+ to keep it however! Also, I’m still waiting to be paid out for my vacation time, not holding my breath.

Not a good fit
Ultimately not a good fit. The company lacked direction from top to bottom which created a great deal of uncertainty. It always felt like it was going to get worse before it would get better.

Short lived
Berkshire bank recruits many new candidates. Trains then in 2 days trying to cram all the information. Management expect you to make sales even though I was on the teller side and that was more management. They switch employees often because the training is really bad.

Run for your life!!!
Do not work at this bank. HR is useless, they are not there to help you. They’re only there to back up the managers. If your manager does not like you, you’re screwed. They will find a way to fire you. They pick and choose who they want to stay and who they want to go. The pay is horrendous. The hours suck. This company is awful all around. Just don’t. You’ll get in trouble for using your allowed time. They don’t care if you have medical problems.
Sometimes you get lunch on the company dime.
Pay is awful. Benefits suck. Everything is bad. Just don’t.

Amazing colleges and regional team
Great regional team with talented leadership. Focused on supporting and developing employees. Good work/life balance and benefits. Tellers have to do a lot and learn a lot in a short period of time, but training was good.

I’ve worked at two branches and the call center and have watched them walk all over their employees with no remorse. Firing entire branches for assumptions. I watched my original manger work extremely hard and get no recognition and almost quit. Then I transferred to a branch next to a casino for a part time position, we had no manager or assistant manager at the branch, just three 24/25 year olds running the bank. Two full time, one part time. We couldn’t take lunches if 3 people weren’t on duty and rarely had that. The cash machines, locks on drawers, and vaults were broken more often than not, there was no teller line for protection, no second drawer to store any excess money. When I complained about our safety, they suggested I apply for another position. Then I worked for the call center, management was rude and unhelpful, you could never reach anyone in the loan department. Calls are back to back nonstop and you can’t take 15 minute breaks. No one is helpful when you need information. Many employees have tried to fight for weekly pay to no avail.
