The company is ok. Their business processes and controls are overly complex and make it difficult to get work done. They’re constantly adding manual work and controls without thinking about the big picture. They should be thinking about how to streamline processes as a whole. The transformation efforts aren’t making things any better. They’re laying off 20,000 over the next 2 years while not cutting back on an already full book of work. It’s adding an unnecessary amount stress and creates poor morale.

The people, team, collaboration amongst team, with exception of top leadership.

Life work balance, appreciation from top leadership, appreciation for those that spent many years committed and passionate about work they were doing only to be misled by misguided strategy and leadership direction and paid the price by being laid off due to leadership misguided direction.

Lack of structured change management

Very reactive, no proactive to direction to meeting customer needs

The pros and cons
|
Citi is a strange company compared to other companies where I have worked. Hierarchy and order seems to be the culture where it is almost military style. Thoughts, ideas, and even encouragement to learn from mistakes is discouraged. Most in Citi are long timers and I feel are waiting for an exit ticket. They won't leave on their own because they would not make as much of a salary elsewhere. Citi is also plauqued with regulatory consent orders and penalties which affects the management culture. There is a low risk tolerance and patience for mistakes. Overall, the company has reasonable benefits. Citi might be a good place for someone starting a career because there are a lot of areas the company does well for which one can learn. Citi is not a good place for anyone that is mid-career or late-career. There are better companies to select from.
