Great starter job!
|
Great company for younger individuals looking for a starter retail job. Hours are variable and often at weird evening times, can sometimes be hard to deal with that. You get free movies, though, and as a teenager, that's probably the best perk there is!

Good first job
|
Working as an usher at Cinemark was a good first job, especially for high schoolers. Some of the responsibilities were interacting with customers, keeping the theaters clean, and working in concessions.

Fun Workplace but Severely Underpaid

The job was super flexible and the team were always a joy to be around.
You got free movie tickets for working here.
As an Overnight Janitor you were there usually about when the last patrons of the night were leaving, so you'd guide people to exits and bathrooms, then be responsible for cleaning 3 - 5 auditoriums and a set of bathrooms per night.
The hardest part of the job was probably just the hours. The job was straight-forward and relatively easy so long you were in good physical shape.
Management was largely supportive of our staff members.

Pay isn't great but it's a good short term job

The pay isn't too great and hours aren't either but it's good for short term. Raises aren't too great either, and there's favortism in the workplace but that's everywhere. However the enviorment can be nice the GM is the sweetest and scheduling is very flexible

Good place to work if in high-school. That's about it.

I've worked here for 3 years. The job itself is super easy and you get all the flexibility you need in terms of scheduling. The pay isn't great (I started out at $10 per hour) but, you get for what the job is. Management is hit or miss. Some managers genuinely care about you, and others couldn't give a care in the world and that attitude reflects on customers. There aren't any benefits whatsoever. Only GMs get insurance even if you're full time or even an AM. In terms of holiday pay, that is probably one of the weakest when it comes to working here. You get paid time and a half for Thanksgiving day, Christmas, Christmas Eve after 5 PM, and new year's day. It's especially bad because the theater is open year-round, 365 days per year. You also have to work 2/3rds holidays (Christmas, Eve, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving day)
In conclusion, I would highly recommend the job if you're a high school student looking for part-time work. If you're anywhere above that, avoid at all costs.

Management worked with me to help find a schedule that worked best with my school and family requirements. However, despite knowing my mental health issues better than I probably should have allowed them to, I was cut as soon as I didn't return from a break on time. Ultimately you work for them, not with them.

Very Unprofessional Management

Although this job is fun for young people to have, the management does not work well with these young people.
Management does not seem to have gone through any type of Professional Training. They do not take into consideration that many of the employees are young and this is their first job. Management typically blames everything on these young impressionable children who don't understand how a job works yet. Management has often missed breaks and lunches for the employees.
As far as their perks go, it is so complicated and a mess. The rules constantly change in regard to the free passes for "extended family and friends" which is listed on their hiring page at cinemark careers. They constantly are making changes to the policy which in turn makes it VERY hard & inconvenient to use the so-called "free passes". This is unacceptable!
