What the team works on
· Autonomy hardware and software architecture
· Design, development, integration, and test of autonomous compute and sensing hardware
· Mass storage and Event Data Recorders
· Vehicle and Safety Controller HW and related functions
· Environment and Sensor modeling and simulation
· Autonomy Al and Controls
· Autonomy R&D Tools
· Autonomy compute and sensing HW and SW redundancy
· Sensing, GPS and IMU hardware, software, and integration
· Autonomy compute communication (sensing, compute, and controller inter-ECU communication)
Responsibilities
· Expert knowledge of object detection and classification, with a focus on machine learning and deep learning

· Experience with Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms.
· Camera calibration techniques, online and offline
· Deep understanding of automotive camera sensor technologies, interfaces, data formats

· Generation and tracking of key performance indicators and regression testing
· Skilled knowledge with parallel programming in CUDA or OpenCL
· Development or use of simulation environments
· Experience working on robotic and/or automotive electronics hardware is a plus
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience developing software for shipping products
· Experience with C/C++ software development
· Experience using issue tracking (JIRA) and source control (git) tools
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience in developing automotive vision a plus (lane tracking, vehicle detection and tracking, traffic light/sign detection, ground plane estimation)
· Experience with existing ADAS technologies such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane keeping
· Understanding of ADAS sensors such as radar, camera, ultrasonic, and lidar, including the measurement and data-reduction, target identification and environmental synthesis, and sensor fusion
· Previous use or contributions to open source computer vision libraries, such as OpenCV

NIO is seeking senior level firmware developers. Based in our San Jose office, we are designing the next generation of electric vehicle from the ground-up.
You'll be responsible for the development and implementation of software for Vehicle Diagnostics, ECU updates and off-car functions.
Responsible for the development and implementation of software for user facing applications and systems. The firmware developer will plan, improve and manage software applications from inception to use. This will include allocating resources to complete programming projects, and designing detailed plans to ensure firmware is functioning properly. Preparation and maintenance of technical documentation for firmware operation is required for consumption from the rest of the organization. Firmware engineers will be expected to travel to and interact with customers and team members for support of the developed applications and prototype installations.

Purpose of the Role:
You will be part of a team working towards NIO's autonomous vehicle vision, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. You will be responsible for creating tools including the primary visualization elements to display the sensed and mapped surrounding of the vehicle, intended paths and vehicle dynamics, and predicted actions of other vehicles and pedestrians surrounding the vehicle. Additional tools include frameworks for training vision and learned models, methods for verification and KPI generation against our data set, provide the ability to parse large data sets and manipulate sensed and perceived data, and advanced debugging of our system. The tools and integration team will work with every group within the Advanced Technology organization to provide world class tools, and integration of these technologies.

Requirements

· Knowledge and direct experience related Autonomous Driving paradigms and technologies is a MUST
· Knowledge of controls, functional safety systems is highly desirable
