As an independent contracting costumer aboard the ships, my experience working for the royal Caribbean has been amazing so far! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Traveling making it on time to the ports when airlines cancel flights and then you have to fly standby can be pretty stressful. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The costume shop can be a competitive & intense environment to work in. But if you know how to work with different personality types under pressure it can be just fine. What is a typical day like for you at the company? In my experience the typical day is fun travel to different countries and enjoying life luxuriously. So far the amount of days working aren’t as many compared to the days off traveling, although there is always checking in with colleagues. The busy work days are very full days however. Enjoyable work usually, and pay and benefits are good. It's been a rollercoaster the last couple years with the pandemic, hurricane season, and layoffs, so thick skin is necessary. Better salary than other cruise company. Working safely specially in restaurant department. Some company still using traditional way to carry foods for the guest. But in Royal Caribbean we're using trolley to deliver foods which is very heavy. No more back pain for the waiters. I have no issues with the company however, the medical staff was not appreciative of an American nurse there.
