Used to be great, now just OK.

- profitable, stable, public company
- Equity is worth cash and not monopoly money
- lots of unsolved problems and room for impact (unlike FAANG not all problems have been solved!)

- leadership from directors up to the C-Suite. At the lower levels are newer leaders who are more focused on building armies than solving problems. At the higher levels, just dispassionate and tired.
- Technical debt. This is a 10+ year old codebase that has gone through multiple major framework changes, monolith to microservices, etc. It is showing its age and is hard to move fast with.
- politics. The company can feel very siloed and lacking collaboration across teams/orgs than most of this size.

Working at Squarespace is pretty cool because it's a place that loves new ideas and beautiful designs. Everyone there gets to be creative and work with technology in fun ways. The company really cares about helping its employees learn and grow, so there are lots of chances to get better at what you do. People at Squarespace work together a lot and everyone's ideas are listened to, which makes it a nice place to work. Plus, they take good care of their employees with things like good pay, health insurance, and sometimes even flexible schedules so you can work in a way that's best for you. Also, when you work there, you're helping to make tools that lots of people all over the world use to share their stories or run their businesses, which feels pretty special.

Sure, working at Squarespace can be exciting because it's a place full of creativity and innovation. But, this also means it's a busy place where things move quickly, and there's always a lot to do. People there are expected to deliver great work, which can be a bit much for some. Because the company always wants to stay ahead, things can change fast, which might be hard for those who like a more steady routine.
