No EHR and software issues affect an already low pay rate

The quality of patients and the pay rate are inconsistent. Patients have unlimited access to you,so they will text you instead of scheduling the session, which is how you get paid. If the chat or call disconnect, it starts your time over. You could spend 6 hours working but only get paid for 2. You also have to maintain your own records

Great place to work but referrals have been slow. I would love to work for them full time but not enough client referrals to be sustainable. Flexible schedule. Great contract job.

So far so good. I like the flexibility of the work and the variety of clients. The pay is not so great but it works for this stage of my life. I love the support team. They have been really helpful

They nickel and dime therapists

The pay is disrespectful. And new rules are created to limit therapist compensation which are either communicated vaguely or not at all. There are ethical and legal issues in providing online therapy which BetterHelp throws back at their therapists. While you work with autonomy there is no support or information that is clear or helpful in learning how to do this work. As a result ethical breaches occur and therapists learn on the fly. They are poorly paid, accept liability without understanding what is required if them and BetterHelp recruits with companies that donât fully understand professional regulations and responsibilities. Itâs a boot camp for private practice so if you work hard and learn you can develop yourself. But donât expect to be compensated fairly or treated fairly. Do not expect BetterHelp to support you in learning this role either. A community of therapists support one another which is the best part about BetterHelp. Itâs a shame because during the pandemic this company shined! They could reach so many and were comiensating therapists more fairly. Times have changed.

I feel that it is a little low for therapists, and we are not compensated for âno showsâ, which are last minute cancellations which we cannot control but has a significant impact on our pay. I feel that the company needs a tougher no show policy with clients in order to retain quality therapists, as well as to pay therapist a higher pay rate.

I feel hustled out of my time and skills

If it would not have been for prior experiences being self-employed as a Therapist, I would not have made it the first week. Strong independence and self-governance is a must. Compensation rate isn't what is stated. Sessions are either 30-45 minutes, however, your quoted an hourly rate which can increase with the increase of time in session(s), that are not traditionally billed (No CPT codes-Subscription based) or responding to messages. So if you want your hourly rate, the last 15 minutes of the hour will either be responding to client messages or something compensable. It is a hustle at best.

If you want to control your time and schedule this is the job for you! As a counselor you can pick how much or little you want to work and what your caseload will be. It is easy to add more clients as needed. The more you work the more you earn per hour.
