Great product Ok place to work
Great product. Majority of co workers were great to work with.
The pay isn't great considering the requirements of the job. At my old store they did not even have a vacuum. How they kept up the store was done very cheaply.

Pros: The discount!!
Such a fun place to work for. I really enjoyed working there as a seasonal associate. The people were great and the management was wonderful. Everyone there was always willing to help if you had questions.

The pay was decent across the board.

The role lacked training and the customers did not respect the employees.

Good in the short term
In my region at least, company encourages a lot of home front initiative that help drive success. This great strengthens your ability to build a strong bond with a team. Leading to a large return on investment for associates.
"Williams Sonoma" brand has a strong customer following that can help expand your network. I cannot say the same for the other brand names under the WSI corporation.
There is still a lot of micro management from district managers and up about irrational data. There is an antiquated approach to what KPIs equal success. Meaning that the retail world has evolved, but corporate DMs/RMs are still pushing numbers for variables that may have driven success in the 90s and 2000s, but not today. Most other GMs do not stay that long and for good reason.
And the technology side of this company has seriously fallen behind. Making calls to IT are very frustrating. My store had its same phones from 1997. And the store had gone through 13 GMs in the span of just 4 years! Not to mention that the DM was inefficiently over worked and under qualified, in charge of 12 stores from San Diego all the way up to Fresno.
How do you expect a single DM to successfully drive that many stores, covering that much distance? At one point, the company began cutting behind the scene operations as a cost cutting measure. The most notable was limiting how much a DM could travel to check in stores by capping fuel and hotel budget.

The brand does bring a great story behind it and it does translate passion into its products very well. But a higher base pay for sales associates would make store team stronger as it is difficult to retain associates due to the constraining schedule requirements and low base pay.
