A lot of emphasis is put on your potential and ability to learn to do something rather than just strictly can you do it RIGHT NOW or not. - Genuine effort to improve on sore spots of the company ^^^ As of recently, reflections have been made due to the economic hardships in the industry. and a lot of genuine effort has been put into being more attentive with the issues that were brought up. Are they perfect? No, but perfection is impossible, so it should not be expected. - Effort to actually get you promoted ^^^ At least on my team, because your level reflects how much work and responsibility you can take on comfortably, but also your general understanding and capacity, there is a real effort to actually get you promoted, and the effort is reflected in delegating challenging but new tasks that require skills you might not be most developed in. I genuinely love the projects I am given and I do feel myself improving and being deserving of the promotions. - Promotions are bottlenecked by time-limits, which might be good, but might also be a little frustrating when you have basically checked off everything that was required for a promotion, but can't be promoted until a future point despite now working and taking on a load of the next level. ^^^ A time limit does help to create a sense of fairness, because not everyone can push as hard or wants to push as hard, but might push the right amount within the timespan. Seeing one person get promoted FAST could give you the wrong ideas, even if upon analysis, they did everything that was required and asked of them. Therefore, this might not be a con, but from the point of view of someone who loves the carrot, it is limiting. - Lack of gender minority leadership in the development departments (Engineering and Design), would like to see an active push in developing leaders. There seems to be a tendency to subconsciously just push management tasks to the guys when someone needs to take some on, and it can feel a little dissuading. Having more gender minority leads in these spaces would be really cool to see, and it would feel better too to see leaders come out of our current teams, as we are more familiar with them and have a deeper understanding of each other. -No real retirement benefits, which I guess is common to lack in the industry, but man would it stand out 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 657185 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 2.0 Open Oct 8th, 2023 09:42AM Oct 8th, 2023 09:42AM A Thinking Ape Technology

private:athinkingape https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=657185 Jun 23rd, 2023 12:00AM Open Open A Thinking Ape It was fine Benefits were pretty standard: health & dental, 3 wks vacation (although I've heard some people being able to negotiate an extra week because of their previous job exp), flexible time. Other perks were decent: PIMD avatar of yourself after a year of service, swag, arcteryx jacket after 3 yrs of service and a $250 wellness allotment for mental health services, exercise gear, etc... (taxable benefit), access to lifeworks/Telus health. I think you got an extra week of vacation after 5 years?? and i think an additional one after 10 years for a total of 5. Some free in-game "money" if you played the games. In general, everyone was pretty easy going, training/onboarding was pretty seamless and well thought out. turnaround time for people team to answer questions was pretty quick To keep it short.. I think it depends on the team you're in, but I found it difficult to connect with mine and felt like an outsider no matter how hard I tried. there were folks outside my team who were easier to connect with. I sometimes felt anxious to speak up because i would get questioned which did not make it feel like a safe space. While the company did land acknowledgements for some meetings, it wasn't consistent in all meetings so it felt disingenuous. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 3.0 4.0 4.0 2.0 4.0 4.0 4.0 657185 Open I found it interesting that the company asked folks to write a glassdoor review after 3 months of service/passing probation. I personally don't think it's enough time to get an accurate representation of what it's like to work there. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 0.0 Open Jun 26th, 2023 08:20PM Jun 26th, 2023 08:20PM A Thinking Ape Technology
