Job / Candidate
Biobot Analytics measures opioids and other drugs in sewage to map real-time consumption in cities. Biobot isn’t just data - we are building a product empowering leaders to improve the health of communities around the world. You'll transform the data we collect into beautiful product visualizations that inform and impact public health outcomes positively.
The perfect candidate can design and implement an experience that effectively communicates our data into an actionable public health and policy tool for responding to the opioid epidemic. Your data story will speak to a variety of audiences with a range of data literacy (public health officials, first responders, other city stakeholders), and showcase insights that they never thought about. You’ll be primarily responsible for coding up initial prototypes of your data story, and you’ll work closely with our data team to integrate it into our company’s data pipeline.
Through user feedback, we’ve found that the right medium for our data product is in printed paper reports. You’re excited to take on the challenge of designing a report that looks good printed in color and in black and white, and which speaks to the mayor who has 30 seconds to skim it just as well as an epidemiologist diving into the details. You know how to communicate and contextualize complex data types, and are excited to help our users learn to interpret our novel wastewater-based data.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about making data easy to understand, getting inside the head of our users, and figuring out how data can improve the delivery of public health and social services. Even better if you’re excited about using data for social good and making a dent in the opioid epidemic.
We're a small 5 person company and you’ll work primarily with our data scientist and founders. We’re in the very early stages of building our data product, so you’ll get the chance to directly lead the direction of our main customer-facing product.
This is a full-time contract position.

Job / Candidate
Biobot isn’t just data - we are building a tool empowering leaders to improve the health of communities around the world. You’ll translate the data we collect into a story that speaks to public health officials, elected officials, and the public.
The perfect hire can design an experience that effectively communicates our data into an actionable public health and policy tool for responding to the opioid epidemic. You’re obsessive for user feedback but also intuitive enough to see beyond user imagination. You’re excited to find the perfect data story no one has ever conceived. This story can be told through data visualizations, graphic illustrations, sketches, or storyboards, and eventually passed on to our engineering team to be coded up.
Good design is incredibly important to us. We believe beautiful product is the sum of thousands of small details, done just right. We're looking for someone obsessed with nailing those details. Someone that will not only "make it pretty", but who is also excited about innovating on how data is used to inform the delivery of public health and social services.
This is a full-time contract position.

Job Description
Your goal is to get Biobot deployed across North America.
You’ll be working directly with our founder leading growth and sales. Together you’ll tackle lead generation: building inroads into municipal, state, and federal governments across the U.S., Canada, and eventually abroad. It’ll also be your job to follow up with qualified leads and take them through the finish line, where you eventually hand off to our Customer Success & Product teams. Users and payers are often different people in government, you’ll need to connect them to creatively fund projects via procurement, grants, budget dollars, foundation donations, etc.
Government is just the start. We foresee a world where private industry pays for public health data. You’ll also support our growth team in exploring new customer types and securing deals in healthcare industries such as pharmaceutical, medical, and consulting.
Candidate
Our dream candidate will hustle to do whatever it takes to get a meeting and an answer. You’re humble: no task is too small and you’re happy to support with whatever is needed. You’re also comfortable to step up and lead a meeting with anyone from Governors to CEOs.
We're looking for someone who is empathetic, energetic, and curious. One of the most fun parts of this job is that Biobot is a totally new invention. We are defining our customer(s) in a sea of government and private buyers. You’ll have to navigate this complexity and ensure we focus on and close the highest value opportunities.

Biobot Analytics measures opioids and other drugs in sewage to map real-time consumption in cities. We are building a product empowering leaders to improve the health of communities around the world. We are looking for people who are excited about using data for social good by improving the delivery of public health and social services and making a dent in the opioid epidemic.
You’ll be responsible for operationalizing our data analytics platform, which is based on award-winning research our team developed at MIT. Our analytics platform involves: (1) selecting sampling sites (manholes) in a city through GIS analysis of the sewer network, land use, and demographic data; (2) converting our chemistry lab results (which quantify drug metabolites excreted in urine and collected in the sewer) into population rates of drug use; (3) integrating our wastewater-derived data with other relevant datasets (e.g. reported overdoses or treatment centers in a city); and (4) generating static visualizations for our customer reports. We also hope that you’ll enjoy understanding the models and algorithms we use - even better if you’re excited to help us improve them.
For now, our platform is a combination of legacy workflows in ArcGIS, MATLAB, iPython notebooks, and Python scripts. You’ll be responsible for refactoring and operationalizing these workflows onto one platform (preferably in Python and on AWS) that our engineers, scientists, and designers can collaborate on. We’re also looking for someone with database skills to organize our company-wide data.
We're a small 5 person company and you’ll get a chance to work directly with everyone. We’re in the very early stages of setting up our data infrastructure, so you’ll get the chance to directly influence our entire company’s tech stack. This is a full-time contract position, with the potential of full-time employment in the future.
