You will translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into consistent manufacturing processes which focus on quality and repeatability. In this role you will work to ensure the continuous movement of hardware and solve complex technical problems. You will work closely with production operators, quality technicians, and engineering counterparts to support welding processes for tight tolerance and complex rocket engine components. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable human spaceflight.</p><p></p><p>We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. The permanent location of this position is Huntsville, Alabama. On-site work is required with no opportunity for remote work. Passion for our mission and vision is required!</p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Define, develop, implement, optimize, and own welding processes.</li><li>Work with other areas of engineering to solve issues on the production line in an efficient and safe manner to keep hardware moving on weekend shifts.</li><li>Create/modify manufacturing work instructions to disposition non-conformances.</li><li>Troubleshoot and operate equipment as required.</li><li>Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.</li><li>Willing to work in other areas of the factory as needed.</li><li>Contribute to fabrication DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design and build.</li><li>Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into consistent welding processes which can be deployed across multiple manufacturing sites.</li><li>Identify, develop, and deploy new welding methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.</li><li>Utilize lean manufacturing methodology for process development and problem solving.</li><li>Design, procure, install, and qualify custom manufacturing equipment/fixtures.</li><li>Travel required for training and other support activities. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of transition from development to production. You will manufacture, assemble, and test structural flight hardware assemblies according to written procedures and engineering models, drawings, specifications. You will be responsible to operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment, truck-trailer combinations and other ground support equipment as required. Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including, but not limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, height gauges and optical measuring instruments.
