Many of the coworkers just refuse to talk to each other and get along. There’s a lot of miscommunication or no communication at all. This job is certainly not for the faint of heart as it is highly stressful and it keeps you on your feet all day. Breaks are very short with only having a 15 minute break for 6+ hours. Scheduling is a mess and doesn’t stick to your flexibility with inconsistent hours each week. Don’t be surprised if you close at 8pm then come in at 5 the next morning. I worked here during the height of the pandemic and they did take care of the store well but many guests weren’t following guidelines properly but we still had to serve them. Overall, working here was no for me. Lots of stress, mental anxiety and bad turnover rate. They would constantly understaff during rush hours and holidays. I loved interacting with my coworkers and working in a fast-paced environment to bring satisfaction to each and every guest that would come into the store. Management, on the other hand, was not that great. The manager would gossip about their own employees, refuse to stand in front of a window with guests because they were afraid that someone would "fall in love with them", bully employees into leaving because they were mentally disabled, force employees to drive to work in dangerous road conditions, and refused to take accountability for their own store and would close the store if an employee called out because they didn't want to run the store themselves. They would also openly talk about wanting to fire and get rid of employees in their own store in front of other employees. The unprofessionalism from management made it a hard environment to work in, despite otherwise loving the environment, tasks, and other employees at my workplace. Stepping away from this job, I have learned to set better boundaries and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
