Casper used to be a great place to work. Now, its awful.
|
Recently they have eliminated all full time positions in the stores other than the managers. Some employees have been promoted. Others have been left behind. It appears to be somewhat random, not based on skill level. Health insurance has been eliminated for those who used to be full time. It is clear that they just do not care about store employees. When they should be working on improving the infrastructure and utilizing the talent they have, they have focused on eliminating these jobs, hiring fast-food employees and not caring.

A Chill Work Environment

I worked at Casper up until the pandemic hit and we were all furloughed. Before that it wasn't that bad. They could have definitely paid us more as we didn't make any commission but that also allowed us to not have cutthroat employees stealing sales. You get a free mattress but they don't offer insurance to part time employees. I very rarely felt stressed but I was lucky to have a great store team. Corporate was sometimes transparent but sometimes not. Some news about Casper we would find out like the general public or from a customer. Which makes things awkward when we were asked questions.

Unfair and rude management.

When I started at casper I loved it, but after a month or so you will hate it. The stores struggles to stay open with only like 10-20 customers coming in a day (most days sales are 0). They don’t give commissions because “it makes the environment too competitive” but they rank you from highest to lowest in sales (this will affect your status at work) and the main manager will tell you everything you need to change (appearance, self esteem, confidence etc). My manager has taken me and others to crying before and will sometimes gang up and have 2 of the full timers join in (even when they didn’t want to), she once told me to stop flirting with the boys (they were about 10 years older than me) because apparently I was smiling too much. The shifts are usually 4-6 hours for part timers or 8 for full timers, but they go by so slowly because there is literally nothing to do except sit and wait for customers. Don’t expect many hours a week also, but you can very much grow in the company if you want to.

Basically Casper is an ok company and they are trying to do better. However, they just can't seem to get it together. They make snap decisions and changes quickly, but have zero training implemented to help facilitate the changes. They stuggle with operations and logistics, with seemingly no plan in place to improve. The customer service teams are at the mercy of frustrated customers and when we need support, it just isn't there. However, the bonus structure for sales is good and there is money to be made. Unlimited time off and they are pretty laid back about needing to take it. The people are nice and fun.

Really great culture and place to work although I do believe that upper management can be diversified. I love how close and open upper management is to feedback from the customers and associates.

You would be busy for about an hr and then after that it wouldn’t be that busy and you wouldn’t really be doing anything
|
It was a good place to start working and getting some experience in that restaurant but it would also be a pretty fun place to work with your co workers

Love working for Casper! One of the best jobs I ever had. Management was super nice, helpful and easy to talk to them every day, co-workers were easy to work, most customer were tourists ( Miami Beach location) but easy to talk and very friendly. The store is totally different from another store and nice.

When answering these questions are tough. There is the corporate side and then the course you work at. Their environments are completely different. Budgets are tight and you little impute but held those numbers. There is no room for errors or bad days. At times the Corporate paperwork can bog you down And not do your job.
