It’s definitely not for everyone. The work environment and camaraderie was usually pretty good. There’s ample opportunities to grow within the company if you try. The whole slogan and purpose for the company is based around enjoying the weekend, not overworking yourself, and “Friday at 5”. But higher management (corporate) are really the only ones that are able to actually have that pleasure. It’s expected that store side employees always need to make time for the store no matter what day it is or how many hours they’d already worked that week and don’t really get “quiet times” like everyone else does. It’s very easy to be overworked in this store specifically during season because of how much attention it gets all while not having enough staff. While I was in this position, it was made to seem like the stores were second fiddle to the website and we were never able to keep a stocked store. Inventory and staffing were always the biggest issues with all locations and that seemed to be ignored when attention was brought to it in our weekly meetings together. All corporate really cared about was exceeding numbers every week rather than focusing on the needs of the store and its staff. It could be different now that I know there’s a new regional manager who was once a store manager and she was always really amazing with everything she did so I’m sure she made necessary changes. 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 3.0 3.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 3.0 5.0 650465 Open It’s been about two years since I chose to leave Chubbies and it’s a shame because it was without a doubt the best job I’ve ever had. It just became too much to handle with everything that had happened that year and I really wish things had happened differently so I (and other store mangers and employees) could’ve maintained a healthy mindset and work/life balance during that incredibly stressful time. It was honestly just way too much to put on each person in our very small group and I hope that’s changed or at least just gotten better since my leaving. Great school/temp job If you’re a high or college school student, this is an easy part time job. * This is not a place to grow your career. Unless you have a good relationship with upper management, you will stay in the same position with no recognition no matter how well you work. * They tell you in order to justify the price point to customers that the quality is good and will last a long time. These are actually cheap products from Vietnam, and pushing the product onto customers feels like you have no morals. * They do not promote culture diversity. If you aren’t someone with a Frat boy/ girl personality, you most likely will not feel welcomed.
