COM.UNITY
Israel’s first-of-a-kind national social-tech organization.
We, at COM.UNITY, believe that by enhancing these voluntary organizations with the technological tools that they rightfully deserve, we can significantly increase the amount of volunteers, alleviate them from their struggles and optimize their operations.
COM.UNITY aims to bring the benefits of technology, social networking and media platforms to the aid of global social challenges and charities which otherwise cannot afford such luxuries. We believe that enhancing voluntary sector organizations with technological developments will have a considerable impact on their abilities to benefit our communities.
In late 2014, COM.UNITY initiated a annual application development contest, opened to groups of students (3-4 students) from all institutions of higher education in Israel. Each one of 10 carefully-selected groups of students was assigned a charity or foundation from a pre-nominated list of charities, and a mentor from the software industry.
The groups had exactly 6 weeks to characterize, design and develop, with the guidance of their mentor, a prototype of an application that will inspire the population to take action in their charity of choice or will assist that charity in routine operations. The winners were chosen by a panel of distinguished judges, and received an ample sum to be used for developing their prototype to a functioning application for the use of their charity. The team members took part in a product development lifecycle, were mentored by seasoned professionals, and had the opportunity to win amazing prizes.
We at COM.UNITY believe in this organizations importance and are willing to dedicate all necessary means to make it happen. COM.UNITY pledges to be devoted to use all time and resources at our disposal for the benefit of participating charities and entrepreneurs.
