Inspiration for Echo Theatre is taken from the nymph Echo of Greek mythology, who was doomed to forever repeat the words of others, but could not speak for herself. Here at Echo, women speak for themselves on stage. For years, theatre seasons at all levels of production have been programmed mainly with works by male playwrights. It is the mission of Echo Theatre to unearth the power of the female theatrical voice. It's not a matter of a woman being able to tell a story better than a man. It's simply that she can tell it differently, provide it with another texture, another insight, when she is empowered to speak in her own words.
It's an exciting time for Echo Theatre and for women and men alike who are interested in bridging the artistic gap lingering in today's society.
Join us as we explore the powerful female voice in its many facets, as we dream of a common language...
Co-founded by Linda Marie Ford, Pam Myers-Morgan, and Suzy Blaylock, Echo Theatre began to evolve in the fall of 1997, became incorporated in the state of Texas in February, 1998, and received its non-profit status in April of that same year.
Our Producing Partners Emeritus are Suzy Blaylock, Linda Marie Ford and Michael Starcher.
Active Producing Partners are Brandi Andrade, Kateri Cale, Terri Ferguson, Ellen Locy and Pam Myers-Morgan.
If you have a voice, you must use it for your people and speak to the world you live in.
You must help shape our world.
