This is a good place to work if you don’t have any other job experience. You get customer service experience and you can make a few good friends. It’s not stressful at all and the job is pretty straightforward.

Everyone gets along often
|
A typical day at work varies. Sometimes, it can be really slow and other days, It can get busy. I learned that I shouldn't settle. Management is lackluster. They only help when it's busy. Workplace culture is toxic.Hardest part of the job is getting the energy to come in. I don't enjoy it.

Toxic Work Environment

I was excited to work in a gym having always been into sports and fitness and that excitement quickly left the longer I worked here. The managers have no desire to do any work and don’t care about their job, the customers, or the employees.
During COVID you would expect employees especially to be clean and one of my coworkers doesn’t even wash his hands after blowing his nose. We had an employee test positive for COVID and they didn’t have anyone quarantine or do anything to up the safety standards.
The managers don’t show up until 11 am at the earliest and when they are there they never want to do anything. Three times now I’ve worked by myself because the other person just never showed up for their shift and nothing has been done about it.
It’s honestly just a very toxic work environment. I was a manager of a large retailer before and I’ve never seen people care so little about their job.
The employees actions are most definitely a reflection of how management acts. It’s a real shame because I thought this was going to be a fun place to work.

Convenient location, good members. Anyone above the general manager takes advantage of you, they make you feel little. They don’t appreciate your work. They ignore basic human rights complaints. They ignore violent employees.

Gets progressively worse

I loved working there initially, but that changed quickly. The job is easy but management tries to over complicate things to make the job seem more important than it actually is; that’s the case at my location at least. They want you to be a front desk associate, maintenance, security, and assistant manager all at once. They’ll tell you to do a task that you’ve already done 100 times during your shift. Oh and they hate to see you getting along with your coworkers. If you do, they’ll schedule you guys for different shifts.

Eh, not great.

Being with the company for the short amount of time I've been here, I've truly seen its true colors. Every single day now, I find myself dreading going to work. There are times where I just sit in my car on my lunch break and I consider going home and never going back. I've been looking for a new job for the past month just hoping I get out sooner than later. The past month of working here has been awful and I can't put into words how truly terrible it has been. Recently, my location had someone test positive for COVID and none of us were informed until nearly a week later. That was the straw that broke the camel's back, because I can't risk getting my high-risk family members sick, but I also can't afford to quit on the spot due to needing money. It was extremely unprofessional, and the fact none of us were informed speaks volumes. I'm truly saddened by this because I loved the company and what it stood for, but this situation put a bad taste in my mouth. This is a great job for high schoolers, but they don't hire anyone under 18 so that puts a huge dent in who can work there. All in all, if you're looking for terrible money and an easy job, Blink Fitness is the place for you.

Pay is horrible!!!!

They make you do a lot for $7.25. Your daily goals are makingsure the gym is clean ; you clean the gym equipment every hour and mop ALL the floors clean the bathrooms and talk to customers about thier account. They asked a lot for minimum wage.
