Formerly known as the Minnesota Society for Interest in Science Fiction and Fantasy (a.k.a. MiSFiTS), we've changed our name to better reflect our growing community and purpose! We are a volunteer run 501(c)(3) building community with year-round clubs and events by and for local geeks; running programs promoting science education; and supporting local geek groups with our mentorship program the world's only geek community center through our partnership with Convergence Events and Anime Twin Cities. From our educational initiative of bringing science into local classrooms/libraries/rec centers, to a gaming club, to things as simple as an ice cream social, we've always believed that there are great opportunities for service, community, and fun, even if we have to create them. Membership is free - just email info@geekpartnership.org and say "I want to be a member!" However, in order to be a voting member of GPS you need 20 hours of service throughout the year. We need volunteers at all levels. Even if you'd like to contribute only an hour or two, it all adds up! For immediate volunteer needs see http://geekpartnership.org/volunteer-opportunities/. If anything listed interests you – or if you have any other ideas about what you would like to do with GPS, please contact us at volunteers@geekpartnership.org or info@geekpartnership.org.
