Even had fun little perks once a month that you could participate in. Covid caused large layoffs and setbacks, and more pressure on the job!

Just okay.

The culture and people are great. direct supervisors are supportive. They keep laying off employees based on downsizing and for profit margins (pre-covid) Upper management seems to be confused as to how to manage this company. new compensation plans that seem to change every few months... etc, It's a good opportunity to work for a year, maybe two. Not really a place to grow.

They are planning an IPO. dramatic cost cutting so the IPO will look good. that means layoffs, cutback on perks etc..

They build you up well.
|
During training they explain compensation like you just got hired to a factory that makes millionaires. Realistically, 10% or less hit 100% to goal. The disciplinary track (what happens if you don't hit goal) is poorly described and not consistently enforced. Managers are not consistent with their coaching. They are great people, just not consistent. Continued education is not consistent either. It seems like some months there will be one a week and then there will be other months where they make a change to the software and you get a "hey sign this so we can prove you leaned it " email. Also, the leads. Yes, most of the people you are calling have a profile but they didn't always make it. Sometimes it was somebody at the company, other times it is someone from Houzz that did a cold call and got an email then took it upon themselves to make a profile.

The leads you receive are not the best and half of the time it’s not your fault since you can always dial high but maybe get a few people to answer. In the end it ends up being your fault.

Love the People
|
I started out in one department that was a little tough, some overworked and some managers were better than others but leads and employees were terrific. At that time, the opportunity to move in the company was much better (COVID has slowed things down). Moved to a pilot program and had so much fun with inputting ideas and having them listen. Now that department is permanent and the management is terrific, the people great (even as WFH) and the upper management is great at communicating. I get to help people every day and it's hard work but satisfying.

Pay is a little low, more growth training would b nice.

Houzz is a great company to work for-almost didn't feel like work-gorgeous office and tons of fun and activities. Only downside was poor reviews of product/service often made it difficult to really kill your sales goals.

Overall the management and culture at Houzz is great.
If you're taking a sales position, know that it's an uphill march all day long everyday. They let you know walking in the door that it's a difficult position to be successful in and there is a good deal of turnover.
