Our initiative, The National Student Safety Collaborative (NS2C), started as a separate arm of the foundation under which to conduct some information gathering and research. The question was simple. "Can we really help?" From the inception of the foundation the Keyes Family explored the arena of school safety. They attended symposiums, conferences and events about school safety. Tons of research. The foundation hosted roundtables of it's own. And the foundation contracted an Emergency Management Practioner to jumpstart the learning curve and make introductions. (Perhaps, the best research investment we made.) In January of 2009, Mr. Keyes negotiated an exit from his company and began seriously looking at the landscape of school safety. His motivation was pretty simple. Does the foundation initiate programs of it's own, or does it simply raise a little money for other initiatives and programs? What happened next was remarkable. With so many individuals, organizations, districts, departments and agencies looking at student safety, we questioned if there was really anything we could bring to the table. And oddly, we found it... There was no clear, distinct, common language between first responders, students and staff. | Open | I Love U Guys | ||||||||||
