<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team. The role is a mix of technical leadership &amp; people management. This role will initially report to our co-founder and Chief Science Officer. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The primary responsibility of an Engineering Manager at Modern Health is to build and foster strong teams of engineers. As an EM, you are expected to empower people on the team to take ownership of problems and provide direction and group growth. <h2>Product Ops Role </h2>
<p>In this role you'll take a data-driven approach to understand the user experience, develop our product roadmap, and test strategies to drive user engagement, including email campaigns, onsite workshops, marketing materials, etc. You'll also work closely with our in-house psychologist to create and produce evidence-based digital content to improve the mental well-being of our users.</p>
<p>This is a highly visible, cross-functional role that is critical to our operational success and ultimately to the overall user experience. This role reports to the Head of Operations.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This role is a unique blend of strategy and execution, as you will be leading all of Modern Health’s talent recruitment efforts while also being our first recruiter. <h2><strong>The Role</strong></h2>
<p>Because our team is small, you’ll be given lots of responsibility and the opportunity to have true ownership as we build out the product. This is a unique opportunity to use your coding powers to make a direct impact in people's lives. We need a full-stack engineer who can pick up and understand complex technical areas quickly, is enthusiastic about building new products, and can write scalable/high-performance code in multiple areas of our application.</p>

<h2><strong>You will...</strong></h2>
<ul>
<li>Build and maintain the front-end of single-page React web application and the Python API it consumes </li>
<li>Engineer efficient and reusable systems that drive complex web and mobile applications </li>
<li>Maintain HIPAA and GDPR compliance and general security through best practice implementation </li>
<li>Tackle tough design and product problems </li>
<li>Work cross-functionally with design and product to deliver delightful user experiences </li>
<li>Write and maintain technical documentation, unit tests, and integration tests</li>
<li><span style="font-weight: 400;">Provide technical leadership in domain areas</span></li>

<li>5+ years of relevant software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages </li>
<li>2+ years of production experience in React and/or Django </li>
<li>Experience building performant, responsive, single-page web applications </li>
<li>Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs </li>
<li>Experience with at least most of the tools in our stack </li>
<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li>
<li>Ability to work effectively with a distributed development and ops team </li>
<li>Passion for building something to improve the lives of others</li>
</ul>
