private:libertybank https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=28256 Mar 10th, 2023 12:00AM Open Open Liberty Bank (Connecticut) Better than retail Branch Staff: Flexible schedule hours, always have evenings and Sundays off, several paid holidays, performance based bonus structure, Pension and 401k options, frequent "employee appreciation" perks like lunches, snacks, and swag. PTO is available before it is earned, so not everyone is waiting until the end of the year to use it. Everyone is overworked and underpaid. Both back office and branches are short staffed. Workloads keep getting shifted and it just results in burnout for everyone. Core systems and other technology is dated. Have done many reworks and considered switching to other systems but no action is ever done. Lots of internal polling for feedback with minimal results. No consistency across branches for policy/procedure. Some make zero exceptions, some make limited exceptions, others make unlimited exceptions so no one even knows the rules. Creates a poor experience for the customers as it sets them up to believe that certain branches will provide special treatment. Is always a wake up call when new staff are being trained or lots of long-term teammates leave. They'll never terminate a bad employee. Doesn't matter if they create a toxic work environment. Neither HR nor Management get involved to resolve the issue, they just wait until they quit. Or retire if the employee has been there that long. Poor performance is rarely addressed appropriately. Long-time employees with past experience of bank having no goals feel slighted for now having them, and generally don't have the appropriate skills or refuse to put in the effort to reach them. Long-term management coddles their behavior and does not appropriately coach them to success, but also complains that they are not succeeding. Company claims to have opportunity for advancement, however typically they are not promoting much from within unless you have longevity with the company or have a connection in the new department. A lot of new external hires who are not familiar with policy/procedure yet will make more money because they're being hired at top dollar while long-term employees make a barely livable wage. Raises do not keep up with inflation. Health insurance only option is a HDHP. No PPO or HMO or anything else where you can have a copay, all non-preventative care visits are out of pocket until deductible is met.
