A Great Place to Start

Working at Mirror is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in experiential / design and production. The smaller office environment allows anyone and everyone to help out where they can, which in the end only helped me grow as a designer. While there, I was never treated as just an "employee" but often as a friend surrounded by people who truly want to see you grow and succeed. I had the opportunity to learn through some true professionals in everything from design, sales, production, and client management. I was able to grow not only within the company, but also as an individual and apply those skills to my next opportunity.
Mirror provided generous PTO, unlimited sick days, summer Fridays, breakfast once a week, great holiday parties, stocked bar and snacks.

There can be longer days with and extremely tight deadlines and some conflicting ideas about priority related to certain clients/jobs.

If you are just out of school then this might be worthwhile in order to gain a bit of experience while looking for a real position with a worthwhile firm. A sort of check-the-box move.
|
If you have some experience or are interested in working somewhere that will actually contribute to a career then there are countless reasons not to even send a resume. The main one being that all operations and decision making is currently being handled by an unqualified individual. They have no business running a firm and the resulting issues demonstrate this. If you are hired, you will be at the mercy of their whims which will mean that eventually you will join the ranks of countless people who were promised one thing and then were fired or quit. The work itself is all last minute and shoddy. Mostly brokered out. There is no future here and that is a direct result of the management.

Fun projects and some good people. Good place to build a resume and then move on.

Company is run poorly. Partners are absent and don't know what they are doing. Leave things in the hands of certain unqualified people, one in particular, who hurt the morale and work. Turnover is really high. Pay is low. Hours are long. No standards or vision for the company.

The environment is unpredictable and unreliable. Turnover is rampant. Long-term strategy is overlooked in order to make a quick buck - whether that is at an internal or external expense.
