|
Typical day included grabbing carts from outside, sweeping floors, bagging groceries, and cleaning restrooms. Enjoyed working with most everyone. Hardest part was no set schedule. Nice part was pay weekly.

Working at Safeway grocery store was overall a positive experience. The atmosphere was usually upbeat, and I enjoyed interacting with customers and my coworkers. However, the pay could have been better, which is a common sentiment in the retail industry. Late nights weren't ideal, but I understood they were part of the job. One advantage was that the longer I worked there, the more preference I received on my schedule, which allowed me to better plan my personal life.

Horrible place to work, don't trust anyone.

Workplace culture is no one has to do their job and there are no consequences for being lazy, calling in all the time, being on your phone, etc.
Most of the management up front do the very minimal.
The long-time employees who work extremely hard, are dependable and competent have to pick up the slack for the employees who get away with not doing their job - no extra compensation or gratitude shown by upper management. It is as if it is expected.
You are just a pawn in their game of chess.

Good for a college student or just to save money
|
Work was pretty straight forward and easy with managers being easy to reach and communicate with. Pay was what you’d expect at a grocery store but managed to save a good chunk while working for 9 months. Coworkers called in sick and left us short handed more often than I liked but for the most part was decent work.

Seriously only work here if you have to and they offer you a good hourly wage starting out ($18+ minimum). Your coworkers for the most part are great but you'll deal with a lot of awful customers and upper management is a freaking disaster. They spend most of their time harassing people who are already busy and try to squeeze the work of at least 3 people out of just one. There's also a bunch of pro merger garbage you get to deal with and honestly it's so obviously a lie it's ridiculous.
