Good environment
|
Management is supportive to the extent possible. Upper management keeps a tight leash on labor, so be prepared to be understaffed. Not ideal for first job, but possible to be successful. Important to actually like interacting with people. Great way to get out of your shell if you value social growth. Easy to take time off, ideal for students. Being available to pick up extra hours gets you more hours.

I loved working at coffee bean. It was a great first job and taught me how to have conversations and broke me out of my shell. My co-workers were very friendly and always willing to help. I also loved that we got to try all of the drinks!

Messy but fun

management is a mess. are you a hard worker? don't expect a reward for your effort. loved my coworkers but we all got paid the same whether you worked for company for 6 months or 9 years. the benefits were nice but they did not do a good job encouraging the workers since we would not be given any recognition for our outstanding workers. Even if they were the best on the team, small slip ups such as wearing the wrong pair of shoes for one day or forgetting to take your nail polish off once before your shift would get you a write up. Training was horrible and rushed, especially for MODS since there is no structure or set list of things you need to learn before becoming am MOD. Once you get promoted you're expected to already know everything even if you weren't trained on how to do it.

unfair pay and poor management. hours were not flexible and manager plays favoritism. i don’t recommend.. fun co workers but underpaid for amount of work and hours worked. never felt appreciated here

I thoroughly enjoyed working with my colleagues and manager, whose personalities and kindness enhanced the work environment. However, the pay, consisting of minimum wage supplemented by tips, may not adequately reflect the time and dedication invested into the job. Consequently, I hesitate to endorse employment with this organization, and would advise against pursuing employment at this establishment. While I cherished the role and relationships made with everyone, certain strategic choices by corporate leadership raise concerns.

Okay Management, Horrible Parking

Typical Day Register: interact with customers, listen to customer drink preferences, ring up and modify drinks on register screen, serve brewed coffee and tea, prep back up coffee, handle ovens and pastry orders, communicate with hot bar and cold bar.
Typical Day Hot Bar: make hot and iced specialty drinks (lattes, Americanos, seasonal beverages, etc.), make powdered tea drinks, tamp coffee grinds, pull espresso shots, use powder-scoops according to drink making standards, sequence drink orders, restock cups, lids, and powders, keep espresso station clean.
Typical Day Cold Bar: make Frappe-style blended drinks, cold brew drinks, iced teas, Viet coffees, iced coffees, etc. Handle blenders, restock iced cups and lids, restock powders, keep blenders rinsed and cold bar station clean. Help out Hot Bar when needed.
Management was okay. Hours were flexible depending on your Manager and your availability. Co-workers were okay.
Hardest part of the job: handling upset customers, soloing hot bar during busy times. Multitasking between brewed coffee, register, and oven at the same time. Running out of powders, cups, teas, and brewed coffee, and not having time to restock.
Enjoyable part of the job: making specialty drinks on hot bar.

Parking was horrendous, company doesn't subsidize employees for parking nor provide dedicated employee parking, you have to pay $15 at the garages just to work your shift, or pay per hour at the kiosks just to avoid getting cited

My coworkers and my manager at the time were amazing. The people were the reason I had stayed in the company for as long as I did, however the corporate side of the company was the reason I had left. For the amount of work and mental toll it had taken from me, the pay is NOT worth it. The company may seem like they care but that is not at all true. They WILL let you go as soon as you try to leave professionally. The company treats anyone as if they are replaceable. Please do not work here, it is not worth your time or efforts. They also are SUPER strict on hair and uniforms. The color of our pants or hair or shoes should not matter as it does not affect our work ethic. Women are allowed to wear earrings but men arent? Talk about inclusivity lol.

Full Time Barista Experience

The environment at the outlet that I worked was amazing, always full with staffs especially during the weekends and public holidays.
Outlet Manager knows exactly what he wants and he scheduled every staff's shifts perfectly. Assistant managers guided new staffs without any complications, very direct and easy to understand. Other staffs were friendly as well.
The benefits are not a lot but could cover up some which is already good enough based on my experience.
The only downside is the work life balance and the mental stability on handling customers as we know how customers can be sometimes.
But overall, had an amazing experience working here for 2 years.
