Great Place to Learn & Grow, but Pay Needs Improvement
|
Although it’s a retail position, Razer gave me a lot of opportunities to learn and grow. Teamwork is very big thing at Razer no matter what department. Even though we’re not located nowhere to the Irvine HQ, people from the corporate office were always welcoming and if you wanted to learn, they were happy to teach.
Would have liked to stay with the company had compensation been better. However when your performance is tied to the store as a whole, not as an individual, you lose your motivation as it makes it hard to get a raise and yearly raises were not the norm. However, my former team informed me they did get raises and are now getting yearly raises, so they’re on the right track and hope it gets better.

fun but tight deadlines

it's fun creating creatives also with ongoing events you can also be accommodated into having to come and help there. but it can be stressful having a tight schedule

Razer is great gaming peripherals company to work for

I was a Software Engineer for Razer for 5 years from 2015-2020.
There were 12 members on our team: 1 manager, 3 QA testers, 8 developers
A typical day started with a sprint conference call with the whole team in which each individual's assignments were discussed. The rest of my day was spent working on development projects, working on bugs, and discussing this work with other team members. One or two developers worked by themselves. Others worked in teams of two or three. There was much collaboration between our team in SF and teams in Singapore and China.
I learned a lot about CI/CD using Jenkins, software development (mainly C# and WPF), agile methodology, bug tracking with JIRA.
Although limited in scope, my experience with management was excellent. My manager was very communicative regarding expectations and very understanding when it came to working from home.
Workplace culture was extremely relaxed and fun. Everyday dress code was very flexible. Our team often got together with each other and members from other team to go on group social outings (movies, gaming events).
The hardest part of the job was the complex software development.
I enjoyed just about every aspect of working at Razer.

Great team dynamics, virtually no conflict, gatherings for gaming-industry PR events wre super fun.

Lot of work, fun

Lot of work for not a lot of money. Specially in the managing positions, its a very fun company to work for, but you are not going to be well compensated money wise
