<p><strong>Job Summary: </strong>Histotechnicians are responsible for preparing tissue specimens for pathological examination; helping maintain laboratory equipment; training in the use of new laboratory equipment; performing routine histology procedures; preparing solutions required for any histological examination; plus all related job duties as assigned. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.</p>
<p><strong>Summary of Essential Histology/Dermatology Job Functions: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Prepares and maintains reagents and equipment.</li>
<li>Grosses, Processes, Embeds and Cuts tissues.</li>
<li>Performs routine, Special, and Immunohistochemical staining.</li>
<li>Maintains procedures and records to meet all regulatory standards.</li>
<li>Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling.</li>
<li>Maintain the integrity of the specimen and patient identification.</li>
<li>Demonstrates handles and disposes of specimens and chemical waste based on the laboratory’s procedure manual, and ensures compliance with regulatory policies.</li>
<li>Aids in discrepancy resolution.</li>

<p><strong>Education, Certification/Licensure, and/or Experience:</strong></p>

<li>Associates Science degree, BS degree, or related discipline in Histology required.</li>
<li>Required One year experience in Histology laboratory preferred, new graduates will be considered as well.</li>

<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills.</li>
