Mission
Reporting directly to the Director of Enzymology, this individual will be assigned to a variety of projects for Solugen’s R&D and manufacturing facility. Their role will center around one key R&D project. This individual will also assist the R&D and products teams, and Solugen’s enterprise partners/customers with procurement, experiments, and pilot studies to support the organization’s future production and revenue goals. This is a hands-on role where the individual’s initiative, laboratory prowess, and energy level will make a substantial impact on the company. As the company grows and the individual progresses, the ideal candidate for this position can move up and laterally to different areas within the company including experimental design, commercial plant operations, process optimization, and technical business development.

Research
Assist Director of Enzymology in designing and executing protein engineering experiments.Maintain a safe and orderly laboratory in compliance with all safety policies and practices.Write standard operating procedures related to enzyme technologies.Initiate and monitor benchtop experiments under the direction of the R&D team.Engage in new product design, development, and testing.Train employees to execute laboratory tasks related to protein engineering and supporting activities.

Attention to detail and organization.Ability to exercise common molecular biology techniques including microbial cell culture, sterile field technique, isolation of nucleic acids, polymerase chain reaction, cloning, restriction digests, nucleic acid and protein gel electrophoresis, centrifugation, autoclaving, and pipetting.Willingness to self-learn a broad range of new technical skills.Ability to exercise protein engineering techniques such as protein purification, mutagenesis, high-throughput liquid handling, screening assay development, macromolecule visualization (PyMol, VMD, etc.), and data analysis.Experience in X-ray crystallography, NMR, cryo-EM, or other protein structure determination methods is preferred.Competency in protein engineering-related software (Rosetta, PROSS, FoldX, etc.), text-based scripting (Python, Perl, etc.), and proficiency with Unix systems.Experience with machine learning methods for protein engineering is preferred but not required.Familiarity with strain engineering techniques for enhanced protein production.Ability to run fermentation experiments for protein production in deep well plates, shake flasks and 1-5 L fermenters. <p>Reporting to the Product Regulatory Manager, this individual will be responsible for implementing and overseeing Solugen's Product Safety and ensure compliance with federal regulatory requirements applicable to Solugen. Solugen is a green chemicals company that engages in the manufacture and blending of aqueous-based chemicals. As a small company, this individual must find, vet, and manage a host of area-specific vendors to keep Solugen compliant and safe. <p>The Regulatory Specialist's primary responsibilities include overseeing part of the Hazard Communication program by managing both the non-commercial and commercial products SDS and labels using expert judgment. In addition, they will be responsible for knowing the global requirements for shipping products related to SDS and Label to ensure compliance. The Regulatory Specialist will need to use professional judgment to manage complex regulatory challenges having multiple interpretations to meet business needs while adhering to corporate ethical and legal conduct guidelines. They will operate both independently and as part of a team in providing critical, solutions-focused support to our clients in interpreting and delivering necessary information according to product development and other environmental-related clearances. <p><strong>Mission:</strong></p>
<p>Solugen’s mission is to decarbonize chemicals manufacturing. As a first step, Solugen is building a 10,000 tpy first commercial plant with the potential to offset up to 37,000 tpy of carbon dioxide equivalents. For the plant and company to operate efficiently, support departments such as Finance, have an important role.</p>
<p>This hire will support Solugen’s mission by ensuring that vendor invoices for expense or capital purchases are efficiently and accurately processed by the Accounts Payable team. This includes payment of invoices on time and per agreed terms, using three-way match principles, avoiding duplicate or erroneous payments, drive internal reviews and approvals while leveraging our new NetSuite and DocuWare technologies. This role enables the creation of new vendors using a standardized process, seeks positive win/win, two-way communication with vendors & internal stakeholders to ensure alignment. This role will analyze processing metrics to identify & correct bottlenecks while continuously improving performance. This role will oversee two analysts and report to the Director of Accounting.</p>
<p>This role will also assist the Director of Accounting with period end close activities, General Ledger issues, perform bank reconciliations, maintain the GL Coding Guide, serve as back up to other transaction processing roles (AR or General Ledger) to enable resiliency and bench strength. Other duties may be assigned, including ad hoc system related projects, perform corrective actions to address identified shortcomings in our prior accounting practices/outcomes, or provide support for reporting processes as needed.</p>

<p>1. No late or erroneous payments during normal processing.</p>
