private:spacex https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=40371 Mar 15th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Current Employee - Technician Hawthorne, CA Mission is great, management is subpar. Working here can be toxic to your mental health. Job stability is shaky. I have been working at SpaceX full-time -It was nice to have rotating food trucks and meal options that were cheap -Swag was cheap and you were proud to wear their merchandise. -Some opportunity to go to other departments and learn other skills -Stocks were okay. The 5 year vesting schedule kind of sucks though if you dont make it past the 5 year mark. -Free EPO insurance and 24 hour fitness memberships were great but I wouldnt be surprised if they axed... -Super long hours sometimes up to 13-14 hour days. As a technician who is always on their feet, this can be physically and mentally exhausting after awhile. If you are single then this may not be a problem. But if you have a family or a significant other, dont be surprised if you only see them on Sundays. -$5000 "cash bonus" was laughable. You get paid $1000 in November and then $500 in May, then $500 in November for... 2.0 2.0 4.0 3.0 1.0 40371 Open Mar 20th, 2019 09:26AM Mar 20th, 2019 09:26AM Industrials Aerospace & Defense
private:spacex https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=40371 Mar 18th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Current Employee - Purchasing Coordinator Simply great place to work at I have been working at SpaceX full-time for more than 2 years •So much room for improvement and learning. •Employees work here for months and years and still learn something new. •Fascinating place to work at. There is always something to do and keeps everyone busy and intrigued. • Great discount and perks • Super-fast paced environment, where it seems like there is not much time to "catch-up" before the next change comes around. Not necessarily a bad thing, but not enough time to brainstorm on current projects. • WIth anything, there could be times of stress. Seems like one needs to be by their laptop/phones at all time. • Busy days where hourly employees don't often take their (2) 15-minute breaks. Employees work... 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 40371 Open Mar 19th, 2019 09:15AM Mar 19th, 2019 09:15AM Industrials Aerospace & Defense
private:spacex https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=40371 Mar 13th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Former Employee - Inventory Specialist Hawthorne, CA Was good a couple years ago; now you should stay away I worked at SpaceX full-time for more than 2 years It's cool to say you work at SpaceX. There's free ice cream and coffee on breaks. The food is good in the main building if you can make it there. Every other building just gets whatever food truck that outsourced to that day. I don't even know where to begin. For one, it's in a constant state of flux; management is continuously breaking things to fix them. They make a huge deal about wanting innovative and independent thinkers in the hiring process, and once you get in the last thing they want to hear is input from you. All processes are autocratic; management just makes up stuff they want and force the analysts to put it into practice... 0.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 40371 Open Mar 18th, 2019 08:41AM Mar 18th, 2019 08:41AM Industrials Aerospace & Defense

private:spacex https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=40371 Mar 10th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Former Employee - CNC Machinist Hawthorne, CA USA "CNC machinist" I worked at SpaceX full-time (More than 5 years) Nothing good to said foods increase from 3 to 5 dollarsPay 1 dollars for coffeeHave to buy a meal to get ice cream. Company goes down hill after layoff, food price increase, coffee no longer free. A lot cut back.If you work on the floor expect to run 3-4 machines. And supervisors who does nothing to support your duties. Supervisor does not have an single clue what on day to day operations. Management is getting bad to terrible every single year. Nothing is positive to said. With management try to eliminate overtime, hire in new employees and wants the old guy on the floor to train the new guy. It getting so bad that I quit without giving them a notice. They come up with a this survey. Doing a split shift on weekend. If we want to work split shift or weekend with 40 hours. And hire new machinist to take older guy job.Pushing all responsibilities to the floor machinists without giving an appreciation.Management expectation one machinist run 3 machines and then you have to train new employee how is this system working? How?Quality system is broken. Quality inspector does not has a single clue. There are no support from anyone. 7 private:spacex https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=40371 Mar 13th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Former Employee - Shipping and Receiving Clerk Hawthorne, CA USA "A Double Edged Sword" I worked at SpaceX full-time (More than 3 years) -Being part of an ambitious company goal-More food options than any job I've had, thus far. Regular rotation of food trucks, as well as a decent cafeteria at the main facility. Many snacks, healthy and not healthy, are also available. Free coffee and soda everywhere. Protein shakes, a variety of quick/grab and go options available at most hours. Daily juice recipes and kombucha for sale, if you're into that sort of thing. All food and drink items are at a reduced cost, compared to purchasing in the outside world.-There is a good amount of brand recognition, so as others have stated, saying that you work here seems to garnish a certain amount of respect from people.- Benefits are decent, when utilized to their full potential.-Guaranteed overtime.-Working with smart, highly capable people from all walks of life and in a plethora of positions.-Laid back rules, in regards to dress code. Can show up wearing street clothes every day, if you desire. Even when working in a production area, only requirements are steel toe shoes and proper PPE. Colorful hair, excessive tattoos or piercings are not frowned upon, either. I have a pierced septum and was never told to remove it or tuck it into my nostrils.-you can take your loved ones (who you will spend much time away from here) on company tours, so they can see just what your second home is like/all about for themselves. The largest con in my time with the company was bearing witness to (and becoming a victim of) the toxic culture that thrives in many departments. As others have stated, everything is very clique oriented. If you're not one of the butt kissers, you may be isolated and not made to feel like a valuable team member, no matter how good you are at what you do. Expect to be often second guessed at team meetings when bringing up valid concerns. Also expect to be made an example of and even humiliated for your mistakes, while lead/supervisor favorites get away with a lot. Some leads are given too much power, and allowed to run a muck, behaving more like supervisors than knowledgeable/approachable people who are in the trenches with you. With this, also comes the potential for micromanagement that borders outright harassment. You may be criticized for every last thing you do, down to how long you took in the restroom. Meanwhile, the butt kissers will get away with nearly anything that they want that isn't a huge offense. If you are not an engineer, planner, etc. (someone working at a desk for the majority of the day) expect to be treated as a servant to the brilliant rockstars . When any mistake is made by them that complicates a schedule, expect your management to blame you first, until you prove yourself innocent. Expect any criticism, no matter how true, of these people and their processes to be treated as blasphemy. Expect to be confronted with huge egos.Long hours will wear you down mentally, after awhile. The honeymoon phase of working here does wear off within the first six months to a year. Expect your personal life to feel much smaller than before. If you don't live a close distance to Hawthorne, have kids, etc. expect to be treated like you're not a team player for having to/wanting to leave early, even on weekend shifts and slow days.Pay is generally lower than the industry standard for many positions. A decent raise is nearly impossible to attain. Achievements are downplayed at reviews, under the pretense of any new goals met for the next reviews having a larger impact. Empty words repeated every time. and rewards are minimal, if any.Seniority was not respected or taken into consideration in my area. If the newer guy kisses the lead's butt, he's going to be treated better than you in all circumstances. Not all job titles have clearly defined sets of responsibilities. As a result, your supervisor might make you responsible for things outside of your title's general implied scope. You may end up stretched very thin, expected to do so with a smile on your face.401k contributions are not matched. No holiday bonuses. Most rewards, when given, are vested over time. Including the rare times when a cash bonus is offered. 1.0 Recommends 0.0 Neutral Outlook 0.0 No opinion of CEO 3.0 40371 Open Mar 14th, 2019 08:15AM Mar 14th, 2019 08:15AM Industrials Aerospace & Defense

Also free frozen yogurt and the food is all subsidized, so you're only paying $3-5 per meal.- There are flown rocket parts all over the office.- The first landed orbital rocket is in front of the building- You can give friends and family tours of the factory. Los Angeles is an extremely expensive place to live compared to the rest of the country. 1.0 Recommends 1.0 Positive Outlook 1.0 Approves of CEO 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 40371 Open Mar 11th, 2019 08:12AM Mar 11th, 2019 08:12AM Industrials Aerospace & Defense
